An amazing bird watching experience for beginners - Jean Carlos was everything we could have wished for as a guide for our first birding expedition! We identified 50 different birds with his help and he took us to a perfect place to observe and photograph a number of different birds. Jean Carlos has been birding for many years and is an experienced guide who has taken tours outside of Costa Rica to other Latin American countries. He was very personable and has gone over and beyond to be helpful, even after the tour ended. We would recommend him highly, with no reservations.

Bird spotting frenzy - Did not know that it was possible to spot a brown bird only a few cm in height from 40 m away, but Juan Carlo did so, again and again. Was a fantastic bird spotting frenzy.

Fantastic guide! - Jean Carlo is serious about what he does! He loves birding, and it shows. We walked through the forest, tracking the sounds and fleeting movements... Then, midway through, a male Quetzal just in front of use, posing. We saw something like 55 birds in one go. Wonderful stuff.

Unforgettable experience - Incredible experience! We were able to observe many birds and benefited from many explanations. Juan Carlos is an expert. He can recognize a bird by its call, which allowed us to observe rare birds. We left with beautiful photos and memories etched in our memory forever!

Great outing with Jean Carlos - We had a tremendous outing with Jean Carlos - it reinforced all over again just how important it can be to have a guide. We're not really birders but we truly enjoy seeing new and colorful species. Jean Carlos spotted over 40 for us! And who knew that the parking lot of a semi-deserted office complex would be a fantastic birding spot?
Jean Carlos knew.

New birding fan - We had an incredible, eye- opening experience with Jean Carlos. He knew exactly where to take us to see multiple species of birds. He is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the birds (and all the wildlife and fauna in the area). He would recognize a call immediately and know where to find them. We saw some pretty rare birds like the three- wattled bell bird and some really difficult ones to find on the forest floor. I am so glad we did this tour the first day in Monteverde.. he inspired us and we spent the rest of the trip birding and recognizing birds from this experience. My husband is already into birding but this experience turned me into a birder too!!

For beginners or life listers - Jean-Carlos really knows his birds. I am an intermediate birder, but there is no way I could have spotted all those birds. Once he found one, he immediately had them in his scope and we had close-up views. Plus he could take pictures that he sent us. I enjoyed the trip very much.

Bird Watching with Jean Carlos - Jean Carlos is passionate and knowledgeable about birds. He's amassed a list of 1645 birds and is on his way to 2000. He can identify birds by their calls and can spot them when others cannot. We spent a productive afternoon with him, and it was a terrific experience.

Carlos is as enthusiastic and awesome as a Quetzal's feathers are beautiful. 100/10. - I would give Carlos and his birding tour a 100 out of 10, if Viator had that option. I am a birder - I really loved the tour. My friends that went with me were not birders, but by the end of the tour (particularly their time with Carlos) they became birders. His enthusiasm and excitement for birding is contagious. My friends were genuinely sad for the tour to end in the afternoon.
We saw over 60 species of birds and Carlos' knowledge of bird behavior, color patterns, and calls was extremely impressive. I can't say enough positive things about him, his personality and this tour.
