Born Robert Nesta Marley in 1945 in a little town called Nine Mile in the Parish of St Ann in Jamaica, this beloved son of Jamaica who touched the heart and lives of millions worldwide was also laid to rest in Nine Mile in 1981.

Nine Mile, a quaint hamlet nestled in the hills of St Ann’s Parish is the birthplace of renowned artist, Robert Nesta Marley, better known as Bob Marley. Despite leaving Nine Mile in his youth to follow his musical aspirations in Kingston, Marley often made trips back to his hometown, to spend time with his mother, relatives, and to seek solace, reflection, and inspiration for his songwriting. In 1981, Nine Mile became Marley’s last abode post his demise.
