Great Winer Experience!! - My son and I signed up for the Driving Tour & Two Hour Snowshoe Trek. Our guides, Justin and Amy, were really fun and personable and they both had a wealth of knowledge/experiences of the area and the history of Glacier National Park. We were picked up at our condo at 9am and our first stop was a place that many of the locals come to for pristine mountain glacier water. We had a sample and it was delicious! We then went into the West entrance of Glacier National Park (GNP) and were shown Apgar Village (it's Winter so everything is closed), Lake McDonald which was carved by glaciers as well as the Lodge by the lake, built in 1913. We could not proceed up the Going-to-the-SunRoad with a vehicle. We did see a mountain biker coming down from the road past the car barrier so plan ahead and bring bikes if that suits you. After GNP we were driven to Marias Pass which is the northernmost pass in the US open to automobile traffic year-round. There is an obelisk with a plaque commemorating Theodore Roosevelt for his Leadership in the Conservation of the Forests of the United States and a statue of John F. Stevens who was an American civil engineer who built the Great Northern Railway and was chief engineer on the Panama Canal between 1905 and 1907. We hiked back into the woods by the Continental Divide sign and stepped into an awesome world of nature. We had a beautiful sunny day and lunched out in nature. The Divide is beautiful and majestic and we encountered so many animal tracks we kept Justin and Amy busy...we also had a fun snowball fight. It was an amazing experience. Thank you Justin and Amy at Glacier Treks Outdoor Adventures!
