A Very Special Place even if you aren't into Art - This was our second trip with Blue Fox to Giverny. Two years ago we went in early Spring and the garden had spectacular masses of tulips. The morning tour gets you in before the public which is great as it gets very crowded. Since we had been before we didn't stay with the guide once inside as he was spending quite a bit of time giving Monet's history, etc. The flowers were winding down for the season but it was still lovely. On the first visit we had visited the cemetery where Monet is buried and went inside the church beside it. This trip we did visit the grave but first went on a little walk into the village so this was new to us. Our guide took us past the field where the haystack paintings were done and then we got a bonus peek at the artists' studio behind the inn that attracted many American artists of the Impressionist Movement to Giverny and its famous resident. The studio was like a scene frozen in time and the artists had just stepped away. In all of France Monet's home and garden is our favorite place but sadly it is being overwhelmed by tourists and there is talk of limiting admittance. That being said, if you go to France this is a must see.
