Highlights
  • Hampton Court Palace - As we enter through the Tudor Gatehouse it may feel as though we have stepped back in time to the 16th Century. Together we will explore the courtyards and Tudor Kitchens, we will sense the smells and sounds of a busy working environment where sumptuous meals were prepared by the many servants for the Court of King Henry VIII. We will ascend to the upper floors to view the magnificent Tudor State Apartments which includes some of the finest artwork and tapestries from the period such as the Abraham Tapestries and the painting of the Family of Henry VIII. Walk through the Great Hall and along the Haunted Gallery where I shall tell the ghost story of Catherine Howard, King Henry VIII’s doomed fifth wife. Then we will move into the Baroque side of the palace built in 1689 by Queen Mary II & King William III to rival Versailes near Paris. We will see the magnificent gardens which include the world famous hedge Maze, the Great Vine, the Royal Tennis Court and the King’s Privy Garden.

Additional Information

Sarah, employed at Hampton Court Palace since 2008, is privy to all the hidden tales surrounding those who once dwelled, labored, and met their end within this historic edifice. Sarah shares, ‘As a proficient raconteur, I’ll resurrect figures from history. Experience fables of lovers, treacheries, and phantom presences that linger in the corridors while treading the path of sovereigns where historical events transpired.’ You’ll glance upon splendid art pieces in the State Apartments of Henry VIII and William III, along with the Tudor timepiece, cooking areas, vine storage, and Pond Gardens. My tour’s expenditure includes a private group of 15 individuals for a span of 2 hours. If necessary, I am open to accommodating additional guests and extending the tour duration, yet kindly reach out to me to finalize such unique arrangements. Please note that the tour price DOES NOT cover the admission fees to Hampton Court Palace. The entrance ticket to the palace, costing around £30 per individual, can be procured from the Historic Royal Palace’s official website.

Travel back in time - I had no idea what to expect when my wife and I said to our travel agent in Adelaide that we wanted to visit Hampton Court Palace, famous because of Henry VIII. Immediately upon meeting Sarah I knew that she was passionate about the Palace but the colour of the stories that she told seemed to transport me back in time to a world that I felt no Australian could imagine. It was a thoroughly wonderful experience that I will cherish. I cannot imagine any better way of learning about Hampton Court and I highly recommend Sarah. She really is a treasure that the Palace is so lucky to have.

Fabulous Tour - Sarah was amazing. She really made Hampton court come alive for us. She pointed out things we would have missed like graffiti in the kitchen and the A&H symbols that Henry somehow missed erasing in the great hall. I would absolutely take another tour with Sarah!!
