Great history pre parade - We loved learning the history of Mardi Gras before our first parade experience. The museum was very busy because of the parade but, we felt our guides excitement as a parade participant as she revealed the history and magic of Mardi Gras.

Best $8 I've spent at a museum in a LONG time! - My son and I stopped by on a whim thinking it would be about a hour tour with a few artifacts and photographs. Wow, was I wrong! I was bowled over by the many many costumes, gowns-especially gowns-that were on display along with many vintage posters, sketches, and sparkling crowns. The tour guide, a local architect/historian named C Roberts, had a plethora of knowledge about all things Carnival and very entertaining! I learned many many new facts about Mardi Gras.

Don’t miss this well done Museum - I have been to the carnival museum in New Orleans, and this one in Mobile surpasses that one greatly! It showcases beautiful costumes and artifacts from the place of the original Mardi Gras celebration. They even have interactive experiences with floats! They didn’t have a tour guide available during a tour time, but their self guided tour is informative and easy to use.

Mobile and Mardi Gras - We did a guided tour and our guide was knowledgable and gave us a lot of information. As a northerner, I was not aware that Mardi Gras originated in Mobile, with the first one being in 1703. There are so many beautiful things to see here. There were rooms that took your breath away when you entered because it was so lavish and beautiful. I will go here every time I visit Mobile because it was such a unique and wonderful experience.

A fantastic history of Mardi Gras Mobile - This museum is full of trains worn by various Kings and Queens over the years. You may be fortunate enough to catch a guided tour as we did. If not, there is a self guided tour available on a smart phone. Be sure to get a picture on a float, and pose as a king or queen. The gist shop has all sorts of reasonably priced mementos.

Mercy and Jorge - The museum is wonderful and very interesting, it shows us the whole history of this Carnival in Mobile how Mobile is the house of Mardi Grass, everything related to these festivities since the year of its creation, the clothes used by the queen and king of the carnival , the ceremonies that they did many years ago, it is very interesting to see how to maintain these costumes and all the ceremonies and carnivals, through your phone you can listen to each explanation of each room, the year of the reign for example, in short, we appreciate Mobile for enrich us with their culture.
