Our guide was delightful.... - Our guide was delightful. Very knowledgeable and engaging. The tour was very I formative. The reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is that I was expecting to see more of the opera house. We were hoping to see back stage and areas like that. Regardless, it is a good tour worth the time.

An Ok Way to See the Opera Boxes - We were having difficulty booking tickets specifically to see the inside of the Opera House and there wasn't a performance on the day we were visiting, so when this tour promised tickets to also view the opera boxes, we jumped. Seeing the boxes of the opera house was pretty great and our guide shared interesting insights about how they were used before and now. The rest of the opera house is more of a general art, sculpture, musical instruments museum. I didn't mind the tour itself and felt like our guide was knowledgeable about the items in the museum, but I was looking for more of a tour that was specific to the building itself. We toured the opera house boxes at the very start of the tour and then spent the vast majority of the tour learning about the museum pieces. So, if you are interested in general Italian art and musical history, this is a wonderful tour. If you were looking for a tour that goes in depth regarding La Scala, this isn't it.

Interesting but too rapid - Beautiful opera house. The guide spoke fluent English but at the same speed as Italian is spoken. She didn’t have any thing for us to locate her- easy to lose. Museum very interesting but insufficient time in each room.

Informative, if basic - As a theater lover, I was especially excited to tour the space. Guide was informative and kept things moving. Good to know that a view from the box isn't always guaranteed -- we were lucky to witness a few moments of a rehearsal. Pro-tip: there's only one bathroom and it's on the third floor.

La Scala guided tour - The headphone sound was very poor quality, cracking and buzzing throughout. The guide was not engaging and seemed bored in his job - for such an incredible building and such a rich subject this was disappointing. The museum, costumes and art work was very interesting, the video displays were enlightening and the auditorium was breath taking. We loved our visit but only after we went our own way. We left our guide after 20 minutes feeling very disappointed with the experience. In hindsight we wished we had just booked an entry ticket.

Disappointing - This is not a "behind the scenes" experience. We were permitted to look into the theatre from a box for 3 minutes while a rehearsal was in session and then were taken for a dull tour of the museum with portraits, sculptures and memorabilia related to Opera at La Scala. We were never had a tour of the theatre or saw anything back stage.

Very disappointing. - I was so looking forward to this tour. Unfortunately, it was extremely disappointing. The tour began well when the guide recognized my cane use and invited me to use a lift to the upper level where the tour began. We first visited the Opera House where a rehearsal was in progress. It was most interesting to watch for a few minutes before proceeding into the museum, where we sat for a few minutes for an interesting narrative about the history of LaScala. Once we entered the museum, we encountered other tour groups. At times, there were as many as 3 groups in one small room. It became very difficult to focus since I could hear other guides speaking simultaneously. The rooms also became very crowded and warm. After the third room I left the building. Deeply disappointed.

Poor customer service - bait and switch - I booked (and paid for) a tour with a private guide. When I arrived at the meeting point, a Viator coordinator checked me in, then shuffled me off to a group of 20. When I told the guide I’d booked a private tour, he shrugged and said he could do nothing…and said no one else could help me. After the tour, I reached out to Viator requesting some of my money back. They refused and offered no explanation nor apology.
