- Xochimilco Canals - In 1987, the canals of Xochimilco were recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. These iconic waterways in Mexico City hold significant historical importance dating back to ancient times.
Presently, Xochimilco retains much of its natural beauty, enriched with cultural aspects from its pre-Columbian roots, artistic expressions, and colonial influences.
In our excursion, we will navigate the vibrant canals by kayak, immersing ourselves in the history and cultural practices of this enchanting area.
The journey includes a visit to a “chinampa” or man-made island, where we will indulge in a sumptuous meal crafted from freshly harvested local produce right from the site!

This is a unique and fun way to explore the ancient Xochimilco canals because we can visit natural areas that are difficult to access with another type of boat.
The activity is carried out in individual recreational kayaks, very light and stable, so no previous experience is needed. Even though this is a very safe activity and a life vest will be provided, knowing how to swim is recommended.
