A highlight of our trip to Mexico City - Fernando was a terrific tour guide who provided us not only with interesting background about the trail and local flora/fauna, but also was kind and engaged in fun banter. This is one of those trips where if you are looking at this, you likely should book it! We did the longer trail and it was not a particularly difficult. Our group of ~6 people had a couple who had some early issues due to the altitude, but it just meant moving a bit more slowly (which was fine, since the scenery is great!). If you consider yourself a "hiker", this won't be an issue at all. If you simply like walking around outside, this will make you feel accomplished, but not leave you totally gassed. A+, would do again!

Fun hike - Great hiking and good viewpoints. Had a fun group to share the hiking with. Alberto and Carla were great guides and saw Popocapetl smoking. Bring good shoes, parts were muddy/icy.

Beautiful, physically challenging, and well worth it - Hiking, photos of peaks, beautiful plants and waterfalls - lots to love! Carlos, our guide, was friendly, warm and an excellent guide through the terrain and the day's events. As he will tell you, take your photos early in the day because the afternoons tend to be cloudy. The day called for rain, but the forecast improved once we set out -- Carlos offered everyone on the trip the opportunity to reschedule their hike, but we all decided to continue. I really appreciated that assurance being built into the trip. Finally, a tip: the elevation may be challenging, especially if you are coming from a low altitude environment: pack Advil and schedule the trip in a few days after you arrive in Mexico to give your body time to adjust. enjoy! :)

A gorgeous hike between two volcanos! - This was a fabulous hike! Around 11 km (or 6.8 miles) it's not too intense but the elevation in general can feel difficult for some. Our tour guide, Carla, was very kind and knowledgable, and let everyone take breaks whenever they needed to. We were provided with backpacks, trekking poles, water, gatorade, a sandwich, apples, and lots of snacks. They planned the trip very well and I would definitely do another with them!

Amazing views, moderately difficult day hike in altitude! - I went on the Trekking Through the Volcanoes tour with Mexico Travesias guide Alberto and 4 other trekkers this Sunday (10/29/23). The tour was well organized from the meet-up, with good explanations about what was going to happen, and realistic expectations about the trip. This included an honest warning that traffic would likely be extra heavy due to the F1 race (which it was!). We made one stop on the way to the volcanoes for restrooms and to buy breakfast/snacks, if desired. We were provided with backpacks with a bottle of water, bottle of Gatorade, sandwich, apple and a couple of other snacks. We were also given trekking poles. It was cold at the beginning of the dat, so I was glad I brought a fleece and a rain jacket, but I did end up warming up and taking them off after 30-45 minutes. I am a moderate runner who regularly exercises at least 3 times per week (at sea level), and in the altitude, I did find it difficult to catch my breath after going uphill for just a few steps. Alberto did a great job giving us many breaks, checking on us frequently, and monitoring us for signs of altitude sickness. I think we spent about 5 hours hiking, although I am not exactly sure, since I was paying more attention to the beautiful views. I reapplied sunscreen twice, but should have done even more frequently, as I still got slightly sunburnt! After the hike, we stopped at an outdoor roadside restaurant to eat tacos and quesadillas, which were included in the price of our day. The drive home took over 2 hours due to the extra F1 race traffic, but it was ok since I had been warned! The day was totally worth it! I would recommend this trip to anyone who wants to get out of the city and see the volcanoes but has not trained beforehand or does not want to hike at a grueling pace!

Great trekk all round - This was my first trek in Mexico and first with this company, would definitely recommend. The trip was very well organized, food and water provided more than sufficient, and our guide Alan was very friendly and helpful. The walk is a little challenging if you are not acclimated to the altitude yet, but still very doable as the pace & incline are very moderate. Views are fabulous, and the stop at a local roadside eatery was a perfect finish even with the severe downpour. A great day in the beautiful Mexican outdoor!

Beautiful day hike - Carlos was a wonderful and attentive guide, always making sure our group was well taken care of! The hike between the volcanos was very doable and took us under 5 hours. Plenty of rests along the way with stops to take in the view. We saw waterfalls, wildlife, and of course the gorgeous volcanos - got lucky with a very clear day. Would definitely recommend!

Accomodating Guide, Great View, Peaceful Trek - We met in the Condesa neighborhood in the morning, at 7 a.m. Everyone was on time. After a bumpy trip to the excursion area, Carlos gave us backpacks with lunch and snacks, and walking sticks. We were immediately joined by four very polite dogs who escorted us along the entire trip, providing us with a cute and lively guard. Every time we stopped, the dogs looked for shade and lay down. The views were beautiful. All you heard was the wind blowing through grasses and trees. We trekked up to a conglomerate of antennas and housing for their techs, where we decided to proceed to an area with a waterfall. Carlos was very accommodating slowing down the pace for a couple of us who needed to take it slowly (the height can make you work harder at your breathing). We stopped whenever anyone requested to. We had lunch by the waterfall (I drank some of the water, which was deliciously clean!). The dogs sat quietly for crumbs and left-overs! We returned through a almost level path back to the welcome center and drove off to our restaurant lunch spot where two friendly ladies served us our choice of blue-corn tacos, a delicious alternative to regular corn ones. I chose the squash flowers ones which I never had. Then we dozed off in the long ride back to Condesa in Mexico City, where we Uber-ed back to our apartment. A great day! If you can, go see the Tiffany glass curtain at the Palacio de Bellas Artes: it is a jaw-dropping rendition of the two volcanoes on this trip.
