Embark on a guided journey exploring the historical and cultural richness of Mexico City, visiting its top landmarks and monuments in the Historic Center. Tenochtitlan, the religious and political hub of the Mexicas, boasted the Templo Mayor or Huey Teocalli as its most significant building in the immense pre-Hispanic city. This place symbolized the connection of the four earth directions and the crossroads of the three life realms: heaven, earth, and the underworld.
The Huey Teocalli personified two holy mountains: the Tonacatépetl or Cerro de los Mantenimientos to the north, a repository of human sustenance, and Coatépec, also known as the Cerro de las Serpientes to the south, the birthplace of Huitzilopochtli.
