Silvia is a Gem! - I've just returned from my first trip to CDMX where I experienced two tours with Silvia; Murals and the Museo Nacional de Antropologia. One of the reasons why I selected Silvia was her fantastic smile in her photos, she seemed genuinely warm and kind. I wasn't wrong! As a guide, I'd recommend booking her based upon her historical knowledge and as a CDMX native, she is an absolute gem! First, I am learning Spanish and she was gracious enough to expertly flex from Spanish to English with me. The Anthro museum is a highlight of CDMX and Silvia brought the history alive. Without her, it would have been just relics and reading museum texts. She highlighted the unique achievements and attributes of each indigenous group. Among a ton of displays, she focused on specific objects and shared the meanings of the symbols. During the murals tour, it was a pleasure to discuss art with Silvia. I left the tour with an understanding of the murals genre, the major artists of the movement and how this genre came to shape the Mexican identity/voice in art history. In addition to all of this, Silvia is kind and easy to chat with. She is someone you will definitely want to spend time with while in Mexico.

Engaging, informative, and fun! - I can't say enough great things about Silvia -- her super-friendly and outgoing demeanor coupled with her utter mastery of Mexican history really made this tour. We did the Anthropology Museum on our own on a previous trip, and we were completely overwhelmed and didn't understand much of what we were looking at (maybe 10% of the placards in the museum are in English). With Silvia, however, we got a comprehensive summary of the complex history of Mexico along with thorough explanations of things we had just walked by the first time around. Silvia is energetic and warm and was happy to answer any and all of the questions we had (and there were many). What I really loved was that we could ask about minute aspects of exhibits that we walked by (or that I spotted across the room), and Silvia would give us an in-depth explanation of what we were looking at without missing a beat. She knows her stuff, and -- more importantly -- she can communicate that knowledge in a super accessible, engaging, and entertaining way. I will forever think of the Mayans as the "nerds" in Mexican history -- lol! I cannot recommend Silvia's tour highly enough.
