Additional Information

Narvarte is known throughout Mexico City for its tacos, and we’ll kick off the tour with a visit to a neighborhood taquería that specializes in volcanes, a type of crispy tortilla cooked on a charcoal flame, smothered in cheese and poblano peppers. From there we’ll try tacos al pastor—picture a big outdoor roasting spit, shooting flames—and suadero tacos from vendors who’ve been in the neighborhood for decades.

We’ll visit a lively cantina to learn more about Mexico City cantina culture, where we’ll toss back a chela, slang for cold beer, or a cocktail if you wish. And we’ll finish by trying a flight of small-batch, artisanal mezcals in a cozy neighborhood restaurant, part of a private mezcal tasting led by a local chef and expert.

If you want a tour that combines food, culture, and drinks, this is not to be missed!

So good I came back! - We did the mercado and navarte tours and had amazing experience. I had gone in both these tours during a visit in November 2023 and had such a great time I decided to do it again with family! Toti was our guide for each occasion and is always a great resource for culinary and cultural questions!

Navarte at Night - Authentic and fun! - My adult son and I had a fantastic time with Clara eating (and drinking) our way around Navarte! The area is local, authentic, tasty and fun…with our highlights being the tacos el pastor at a converted automobile repair shop restaurant and the artisan mezcal tasting at the end! Everything else was very good as well, it’s just that these 2 stops stood out. Clara is an excellent host…her culinary background and her enthusiasm for the cuisine, its preparation and culture surrounding it really stood. She’s a calm influence is the dynamic environment. Mexico City is foodie heaven and I’ve been to a lot of high end/quality places there, yet this tour will stand out for its authentic yet tasty experience. Greg L

Tacos galore! - Incredible night exploring the taco stands of Navarte! Our guide, Fernando, made things particularly fun as he was extremely knowledgeable on topics ranging from culinary, culture, history and most everything in between. He was a fabulous guide and we loved our experience. Tacos were delicious, particularly Tony’s Tacos. The campichano was our absolute favorite. Highly recommend this adventure as a way to get to know the incredible street food of CDMX.

A Delicious and Educational Taco Tour with Fernando! - Five stars! Our taco walking tour with Fernando was an absolute delight. The food was incredible - we got to experience a fantastic variety of tacos from hidden gems to local favorites. Each bite was a burst of flavor, and Fernando's knowledge of the different venues really added to the experience. But Fernando wasn't just about the food. He was a wealth of information on Mexican culture and history, weaving fascinating stories into our walk. One of the highlights for me was the mezcal tasting. We met with a 'mezcal master' who explained the production process in a way that was both informative and engaging, and the tasting itself was a fantastic way to explore the unique flavors of this traditional spirit. Thanks to Fernando's expertise and passion, our evening was a perfect blend of delicious food, cultural immersion, and a touch of adventure. We highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a fun and informative way to experience the best of Mexican cuisine.
