During our nocturnal stroll, we’ll introduce you to the atmosphere of an archetypal Mexico City neighborhood, as we explore local taquerias and pubs, and partake in an intimate mezcal sampling with a local culinary expert.

  • Tip for your guide
  • Additional personal beverages, outside what’s included on the tour itinerary
Additional Information

Narvarte is known throughout Mexico City for its tacos, and we’ll kick off the tour with a visit to a neighborhood taquería that specializes in volcanes, a type of crispy tortilla cooked on a charcoal flame, smothered in cheese and poblano peppers. From there we’ll try tacos al pastor—picture a big outdoor roasting spit, shooting flames—and suadero tacos from vendors who’ve been in the neighborhood for decades.

We’ll visit a lively cantina to learn more about Mexico City cantina culture, where we’ll toss back a chela, slang for cold beer, or a cocktail if you wish. And we’ll finish by trying a flight of small-batch, artisanal mezcals in a cozy neighborhood restaurant, part of a private mezcal tasting led by a local chef and expert.

If you want a tour that combines food, culture, and drinks, this is not to be missed!

Supreme Tacos 🌮 - Had the best time w Tonalli - on the Taco tour the second time around. Yes, I’ve done this once already two years ago, but even this time around it was delicious and Eat Mexico peeps were able to change up a few spots for me which was so wonderful! Absolutely adore the varieties of exquisite tacos that are available here. Tonalli was insightful and informative and really knew her stuff! Super highly recommend this tour! I brought my son with me this time who is an absolute foodie, and he was the happiest young man last night

Good vibes! - Fernando was great. Very personable, moved at the right pace, kept the vibes good! Would rec for anyone. Evening was a good time over afternoon because the temperature was perfect. The mezcal tasting at the end was so informative it helped shaped the rest of our mezcal experience (and i don’t even like mezcal)

Narvarte at Night: a terrific experience! - Fernando is exceptional!! He is so knowledgeable about the food scene in Mexico City, well-traveled, and an excellent conversationalist. He took us to three taco places in Narvarte at Night, a cantina and ended the evening with a tasting of artisanal mezcals (plus a dessert!). The gentleman who led the mezcal tasting is a passionate expert. Thoroughly enjoyable. Highly recommended.

Amazing food and history - This was an absolutely fantastic experience. We went to restaurants and food stalls that we wouldn't have visited otherwise. Nico is a great guide and is clearly passionate about the food that he's sharing with guests. We are some of the most delicious food I've ever had, and I've been to 30+ countries, and we all learned a lot about the area, its history, and the food culture in Mexico City. I really can't recommend this enough.

Recommended for business too - The tour was fantastic, really good memories!. We try so much variety of tacos, the selections were great. The only downside is the Mezcal taste if you are not really into alcohol is not the best end for the tour, they should have an alternative like taste of MX desserts or something like that.

Eat like a local! - What an incredible experience dining with locals?! The taquerias and cantinas we visited were unique, delicious, and some were world renown! It was a full cultural immersion. Our guide, Adrian, was knowledgeable and fun. We enjoyed learning the backstory of the locales we visited and our guide was a culinary expert that helped us learn more about the flavors and foods we were enjoying. Adrian also gave us a complete lesson on Mezcal which made us look super prepared when we met with the mezcal expert. We felt comfortable and safe the entire time. Cannot wait to come back and do more tours.

Quintessential CDMX - My wife and I experienced CDMX in the most quintessential way: food. Our guide, Adrian, was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. We learned culture, history, and complex flavors of CDMX on this tour. And, a new found appreciation for the hidden gem, Mezcal! We cannot wait to visit CDMX again and experience a different culinary adventure with Adrian at the helm!

Navarte Tour at Night with Fernando - Fernando was an amazing tour guide. Very knowledgeable about local culture and food, and is full of recommendations for your stay in CDMX. Every place we went was delicious and would happily recommend booking a tour with him in the future.

4th Time is a Charm - This is my fourth food tour with Eat Mexico since 2010 and it was as amazing as ever! We were traveling with friends who had not been to Mexico City before and it was the highlight of their (and my) trip! We couldn’t have asked for a better guide than Nico—his passion for and knowledge of Mexican food really make the trip not only delicious, but we all learned so much as well. Eat Mexico is by far the BEST food tour operator that I have ever used. Thank you, Nico!

You must try this tour. You won't regret it! - I would recommend this to anyone. We ate so many tacos and learned so much. Our guide was knowledgeable not only on the history of the area, but also the history of tacos. It was extremely personal and we had a great time. One of the best tours I have EVER been on.
