Highly Recommend - A very thorough tour on the devastation of Herculeum and Pompeii as a result of the Mount Vesuvius explosion in 79 AD to have a tour guide who is also an archaeologist makes a huge difference The guide was Michele Lamberti of Askos tours The driver was Salvatore The train tickets were provided as promised The pick up was smooth The visit to each site consists of approximately 2.5 hours each of course Pompeii consists of a large area which would require many hours however the time allotted was sufficient For those with mobility issues I would reconsider Otherwise highly recommended

Guide struck a perfect... - Guide struck a perfect balance between specific information and a broader historical context. Going first to smaller, less crowded, more intimate Heraculaneum was excellent preparation for the immensity of Pompeii. Seeing a section of active restoration work was a highlight. All the travel details (train tickets, bus etc) well handled.

Fantastic - Our tour was fantastic. Our guide, Mike, was very knowledgeable. Our van drive was excellent. No issue with getting the train tickets. The train ride was fantastic. I highly recommend the tour.

Great guided trip - Fast train from Rome to Naples was terrific. Diego, the guide, met us at Naples train station. He was very, very informative and interesting - no problem answering loads of questions. Great English too!

Definitely Recommend - TOUR: train round trip Rome to Naples. Transportation to/from ruins. Tickets with guided tour of ruins.
Context: I went with my Dad in March 2024. Neither of us are handicapped but we’re also fairly out of shape.
OVERALL: Definitely recommend.
PROS:
-Excellent archeologist tour guide (Michele Lamberti): He gave very clear overview of the logistics of the day. He was very knowledgeable and entertaining. He knew the answer to every question asked. He seemed to like what he does. He made sure everyone was gathered before we left for anywhere.
-Ruins are worth seeing: pictures cannot to justice to the details and quality of remaining ruins. Herculaneum especially.
-Good balance of time: just enough time for lunch. Bathrooms pointed out. Plenty of time to find return train platform.
-End the day tired but not too tired: There was a fair amount of walking. Not too much elevation. Weather was fantastic (in March).
-Customer service was excellent when we had a problem.
Less-positives:
-Our train tickets were not included in the email the day before as they should have been. As a result we had to buy our own (the office was not opened until after our train was supposed to depart). As soon as they opened they reached out to me in several ways until they reached me to confirm I made it on time then issued me a refund for the tickets we’d bought. It was very easy and ended up being a very minor glitch, though could have been much worse had we missed our train.
-We didn’t have quite enough time to shop much for souvenirs. I’d have preferred a slightly longer lunch break to do so.
-(Obviously) the ground is ancient ruins. Therefore it is not level and is quite difficult to walk on in some places. I would reach out to Askos Tours for whether accommodations could be made if you have any sort of difficulty navigating uneven terrain.

An experience of a lifetime - Our trip to Pompeii and Herculaneum was exceptional. We took the high-speed train and then meet our tour guide for a trip of a lifetime. We went to Pompeii first with a tour hour tour and then proceeded to Herculaneum. Our tour guide was an archologist which gave us information that we would never receive from doing the tour on our own. I will highly recommend the trip to a friend who is visiting Rome in the near future.

A wonderful tour of Pompeii and Herculaneum - Michele was absolutely incredibly knowledgeable on all of the topics and gave us constant knowledge and kept the tour very upbeat and descriptive. A wonderful day and Pasquale was a great driver. Would highly recommend this group, very professional and expertly run. Thank you
