Highlights
  • Naples - Discover the highlights of downtown Naples
  • Piazza del Gesu Nuovo - Meet at the tourist information office in front of the Church of Gesù Nuovo entrance.

In “Piazza del Gesù,” a UNESCO plaque marks the historical center of Naples as a World Heritage site, recognized as one of Europe’s oldest and richest historical centers.

  • Chiesa di Santa Chiara - Explore the Church of the Monastery of Saint Chiara, dating back to the 14th century. Originally Gothic, it was adorned in Baroque style in the 18th century, giving it an opulent and splendid appearance.

  • Gesu Nuovo Church - Visit one of Naples’ most beautiful churches, dating back to the 16th century.

  • Spaccanapoli - This famous old street in the city center, known as “Spaccanapoli,” is a long, narrow street that perfectly divides old Naples in two. It features numerous shops, restaurants, and typical alleys.

  • Complesso Monumentale di Santa Chiara - Tour the renowned Santa Chiara Cloister, celebrated for its majolica artwork. Note that the cloister is closed on Sunday afternoons, so you can opt for a tour that includes only the entrance to Sansevero Chapel.

  • Basilica di San Lorenzo Maggiore - Visit Piazza St. Gaetano, the city’s oldest square. This site was the “Agorà” in Greek times and later a Roman forum. Surrounding it are two magnificent monumental churches: San Lorenzo and San Paolo Maggiore.

  • Piazza San Domenico Maggiore - Further down Spaccanapoli, you’ll find San Domenico Maggiore square and its church, where a perfect blend of different architectural styles will surely amaze you.

  • Museo Cappella Sansevero - During the tour, visitors will be captivated by the Chapel San Severo, featuring Giuseppe Sanmartino’s statue “Cristo Velato.” This 18th-century marble masterpiece depicts Christ covered by a veil, with a legend suggesting an alchemist taught the sculptor to turn a real veil into marble.

  • Via dei Tribunali - Once the main decumanus (Decumanus Maggiore) of the ancient Greek and later Roman city of Neapolis.

  • Statua del Dio Nilo - While walking along Spaccanapoli, you’ll encounter the famous Statue of the God of the Nile, an ancient Roman, likely Hellenistic, marble statue from the 2nd to 3rd century A.C.

Take a short break to enjoy a typical Neapolitan coffee at one of the old city center’s famous bars.

  • Via San Gregorio Armeno - Continue along the narrow street known as “San Gregorio Armeno,” renowned worldwide for its unique nativity scene workshops.
  • Duomo di Napoli - The Baroque Cathedral of Saint Gennaro, dating back to the 13th century, is central to Neapolitan faith. Here, the blood of the patron saint, St. Gennaro, is preserved and liquefies during the “Miracle of St. Gennaro,” explaining the deep devotion of the city’s residents.

We recommend - Thanks to Francisco who shared with us his love for his city of Naples. We learned a lot of things from a cultural, artistic, historical and social point of view... Francisco is an excellent guide and we didn't miss the time of the visit because it was so interesting. Without him we would have missed out on wonders. Thanks also for the Neapolitan coffee tasting lesson. Visit on 26/5/2024

Monastery of Santa Chiara and Veiled Christ - Tour done on May 22nd led by Carlo Zarone. All extremely interesting and complete. Managed with the right pace, professionally and with absolute knowledge by Carlo who was also able to give us moments of relaxation with absolute mastery. Having to repeat this type of experience in the Naples area, I would choose Askos again, perhaps aiming for a personalized tour for couples managed by Carlo to whom I extend my most sincere compliments for the competence and naturalness with which I got to know historical and artistic aspects of how much visited. Thanks Carlo!!

Nice tour, but pay last minute on site. - Nice visit to the most interesting places in central Naples, lasting about 2 and a half hours, with a friendly and very knowledgeable guide. The only flaw, like others, we paid in advance, while at the last minute a couple arrived who knew well that paying last minute was a very advantageous price, saving a lot, because the original ticket was 48 Euros, while they paid only 28. So if you have to do the visit, you're better off paying at the last minute, same treatment but with considerable savings.
