We’ll pick you up from your lodging just after sunrise, and set out from the urban landscape into the sprawling sea of sand dunes.

Our initial destination will be the mobile nomad communities that typically migrate throughout the Erg Chebbi dunes. Over a shared cup of tea, they’ll share insights into their cultural practices and nomadic lifestyle.

We’ll visit Khamlia first, a quaint settlement at the desert’s frontier, home to the Gnawa people. The Gnawa, whose lineage can be traced back to Central Africa, are descendants of African slaves brought to Morocco.

On the main road to the desert Erg Chebbi Merzouga) you should turn left just before Afriqua petrol station [direction to the Hassilabied]. Then, at the end of the road, turn again left and drive straight. We will wait for you in front of riad.

The 4x4 excursion is recommended, nomad camp-black people-fossils. Do not miss it.
