Your adventure begins with an early pickup from your accommodation, as you depart the urban landscape for the vast expanses of rolling dunes.
The initial destination is the nomad villages, which are periodically relocated throughout the Erg Chebbi dunes. Here, over a cup of tea, the nomads will share insights into their customs and lifestyle.
The excursion’s first highlight is Khamlia, a quaint hamlet at the desert’s brink, home to the Gnawa people. The Gnawa have roots in Central Africa, being descendants of African slaves that were brought to Morocco.

Our initial destination will be the mobile nomad communities that typically migrate throughout the Erg Chebbi dunes. Over a shared cup of tea, they’ll share insights into their cultural practices and nomadic lifestyle.
We’ll visit Khamlia first, a quaint settlement at the desert’s frontier, home to the Gnawa people. The Gnawa, whose lineage can be traced back to Central Africa, are descendants of African slaves brought to Morocco.
