The Saf Safari Oasis is situated roughly 45 kilometers northwest of Merzouga, accessible via a track.\n\nTraveling along this path will lead us through regions of hamada (an arid, rocky desert with black stones), sand flows, occasionally dry riverbeds (their water levels vary according to the season), as well as rocky, mountainous routes. We will traverse wide plains frequented by nomadic tribes, spotted with African savannah-like flora, acacia fields, and sparse shrubs. Our journey will also take us through additional oases, including a notable stop at Tisserdmine, where we can inspect prehistoric fossil sites.\n\nThe Saf Saf Oasis nestles within a slender gorge in the mountains, just a stone’s throw away from the Algerian frontier.\n\nFollowing the wet season, the area is particularly stunning, as the accumulated rainfall from the mountains enlivens the Saf Saf Waterfalls. These falls continue their journey southward, meandering through a tight river passage, bordered by palm trees, and creating idyllic sandy banks that are perfect for a swim.
