Renting a 4x4 in the desert with an experienced driver guide, familiar with the Paris-Dakar rally style, offers an exhilarating adventure across the sand dunes while respecting nature’s beauty! The excursions commence from Camp and Merzouga, allowing exploration of the desert region and the stunning Erg Chebbi desert dunes. The journey includes visits to small villages around the Erg Chebbi dunes, such as Hassi Labied, Merdani, Khamlia, and M’fis. On the way to Khamlia, there is an opportunity to meet locals showcasing their desert foxes. Desert reptiles and mammals may also be encountered. In Khamlia, known for its community of black people who were once slaves from Sudan, visitors are warmly welcomed with a cup of tea (Whiskey Berber) while enjoying the spiritual Gnawa music. Departing Khamlia, the next stop offers a panoramic view of the golden dunes near the Algerian border, where a picnic may be enjoyed.
