Additional Information

You’ll experience the captivating beauty of Lake Duluti and gain knowledge of its past as you embark on a hiking or canoeing adventure. This location offers an unmatched panorama of Mount Meru, along with an array of avian and reptile species. Your tour guide will educate you about the role lakes and mountains play in local myths in addition to other aspects of the Meru tribe’s culture and history.

When you join a Social Impact Tour through The Small Things, you’re making a tangible difference. The modest donation we require is used entirely for the benefit of our children, families, and initiatives, with none being allocated to management costs or wages. For instance, a contribution of $10 could furnish art materials for a daycare class, while $25 could provide nourishment for one of our kids for a fortnight. A $75 donation could kickstart a business for a family in our outreach program, and $200 could fund a child’s residential care expenses for a month. This is your unique chance to aid us in supporting vulnerable children and families in Tanzania. Your donation has a tangible, real-world impact.

A lovely afternoon - It was a quiet, peaceful afternoon on the lake with a knowledgable guide. Lots of birds to see and beautiful scenery. Very happy they could accommodate my last minute booking.

Duluti lake and visit to The Small Things office - I had a great half day with Reuben at Lake Duluti and at "The Small Things" office in Usa River region. It was a great way of combining support for local communities and tourism. The lake is very peaceful and you can enjoy a lot of wildlife, especially birds but also some big lizard (not to worry though, everything was really safe!). I suggest you have lunch there because there is the Duluti Forest Club cafe which is a pretty magic spot on the lake. Reuben hired a local guide who was also rowing for us, so there is little effort involved which was good for me after hiking Kilimanjaro. After Duluti we visited The Small Things office and its school/dormitories. It is a great organization with a very unique goal of returning kids to their families, so they see residential care as a temporary solution which i found very interesting. There is a lot more that they do so I encourage you to check on their website or - better - spend a day with Reuben who will explain very well and also engage you in their mission. Thanks a lot to The Small Things and Reuben for the great day and for helping their communities with the revenues from the tours!
