Highlights

Your tour begins in the morning with hotel pickup in Mendoza. Aboard your comfortable minivan, drive through Villa Potrerillos, a village located 45 minutes away. You’ll continue up to Quebrada del Condor, stopping at the panoramic viewpoint of Mirador de la Hoyada en route.

Approximately two hours after leaving Mendoza you’ll reach the gorge, where a traditional Argentine breakfast is served to your small group.

Once your guide offers a safety briefing and some instruction, settle onto your sturdy horse — bred for stamina over mountainous terrain — and follow along the rugged trail. Your 3.5-hour horseback ride starts at the foot of the Cordón del Plata, an Andean mountain range in the Uco Valley. Amid this breathtaking landscape of snowcapped peaks, wildlife abounds. Keep a lookout for llamas, foxes, hares, condors and other incredible birds throughout your horseback ride.

In the middle of the journey, stop for a break at the shore of a creek to enjoy an infusion of mate, a popular drink made from yerba mate leaves steeped in hot water. Then saddle up and follow ancient paths until your small group reaches a viewpoint. From 9,185 feet (2,800 meters) above sea level, you’ll appreciate the magnificent scenery, including the Cordón del Plata ridge and the Potrerillos Valley.

At the completion of your horseback ride in the late afternoon, dismount to enjoy an authentic Argentine asado (barbecue) for lunch.

Your full-day tour ends with return transport by minivan to your hotel in Mendoza.

Great day enjoying the views! - This trip was with Kahuak (not sure if that is always the case or they book with whoever has availability). It was a long drive out to the Valley, but beautiful views, especially the Reservoir. We had a quick bite of traditional Argentine bread, some mate/coffee/tea depending on preference, and off we went to meet the horses. We were outfitted accordingly then enjoyed a nice easy ride. We stopped a few times for pictures and got off the horses at one point for a quick snack and to enjoy the views. We also saw some condors! Once we arrived back at the ranch, the asado was almost ready. Amazing homemade empanads to start (with wine of course!) then on to the main. Plenty of vegetable dishes (delicious!) to accompany all the meat. And I mean ALL the meat...so many options from steak, chicken, ribs, sausages. You will not be hungry after this tour! I'm glad I booked this tour and enjoyed my time.

Great day - I can highly recommend this tour. We had an awesome day in the Andes. We were picked up at the hotel early in the morning. We received a lot of information about Mendoza and the area around during the trip. The Guide spoke great english and was absolutely attentive. After reaching the ranch we got some information about the horses and how to ride. We rode for 3,5h trough the Andes and reached an height from 3000m. In the middle of the ride we've stoppt for a break and had a snack and wine plus we saw 7 condor. The BBQ after the ride was fantastic there was tons of meat, salad and vegetables and of course wine.

Merci for a once in a lifetime experience - I could not recommend enough this experience, the guide we had (Pehuen) was amazing, very knowledgeable and so nice. The pick up and drop off are very smooth, the ride to the ranch is nice, the horses are very easy going and steady even for people with absolutely no experience, the landscape is absolutely stunning. Everybody welcomes with open arms and the food and wine are delicious so I can only thank them all for this one in a lifetime experience that will definitely be the highlight of my argentinian experience as much for the wonder of nature as for the human experience.

A wonderful day. - This was a fantastic trip and a great value. From the start, our guides were wonderful— very interactive and informative, providing interesting details of the country and culture as we made the drive up to the ranch. The ranch is in a quaint setting up in the Andes Mountains. The horses were calm and appropriate for inexperienced riders. The scenery, although rugged and somewhat barren, was beautiful. The camaraderie that we developed with our fellow riders was great, and the delicious asado and vino at the end capped a perfect day. If you are an experienced rider you might find the single file riding limiting, but because of the very difficult footing for the horses and our inexperience, this really was the only way to do it. Highly recommend.

A wonderful time - My wife and I had a great tour. Kahuak travel was very responsive. The driver safe, and the guides spoke decent English. The trip up wasn't too bad, and once up at the ranch we got coffee and tortillas. It was snowing when we arrived. Not only did the guides have us wait for it to clear up, they also had extra jackets for us to borrow. Note, bathrooms at the ranch are spotless. The horses are well trained and fairly docile. The route was not difficult, but still a bit fun and definitely scenic. Snacks and wine along the way. An asado lunch at the end, with the guides constantly filling glasses with wine and water. Dessert with coffee or tea. Really a great time.

A Perfect Day - I knew I wanted to do something special for my birthday and I figured this experience would be it. I was beyond right. Small group, wonderful guides, great and friendly horse, excellent lunch, and memories for a lifetime. Cannot recommend more highly. They even dropped me off at the restaurant where I was going to have my birthday dinner at the end of the day, a nicety they did not need to do. Book with confidence that you will have a great time.

Horseback riding adventure of a lifetime! - My husband and I had the pleasure of participating in the Quebrada del Condor Uco Valley excursion. Our guide Noami was terrific as were the views and traditional Argentine asado following the ride. It was in the top three experiences we had during our two-week trip to Argentina, Uruguay and Chile. Five star experience all around!

Not the best booking experience - We booked our sunset horse riding tour through Kahuak. The tour itself was with Los Pingos, who were amazing, but Kahuak were a let down. The tour wasn’t exactly as advertised, we assumed they outsource the horse riding to whichever operator had availability, so some of the reviews on here will be a little inaccurate as a result. Didn’t get ANY info about pick up times/itinerary etc, we had to contact them ourselves on the day of the tour to find out what was going on. Overall a great tour, just an unreliable operator.

Bad Horseback riding! - The horseback riding was very misleading. We rode through the pasture never reaching the Andes. Anyone could of rode in their own backyard. My girlfriend canceled and I wasn’t credited back anything. The food was amazing & the hospitality was incredible. I went to ride in the Andes.
