Additional Information

Delve into Memphis’ darker side and listen to stories of its haunted past, as told by experienced narrators. The South Main Historic District of the city - a diverse, vibrant neighborhood with some of the oldest structures in the city - is well-known for its history of sensational killings and supernatural occurrences. Throughout this two-hour pedestrian exploration, you will visit multiple sites known for their paranormal activity, such as:
• The Orpheum Theater, the residence of ‘Mary,’ a spirit that has been disrupting shows since 1921
• The John Alexander Austin House, a Victorian mansion haunted by ill-fated lovers
• The infamous Ernestine & Hazel’s, a former house of ill repute acknowledged as one of the most haunted places in Memphis. We will guide you through this eerie establishment, host to numerous specters and a haunted music machine.

  • Within a few blocks there are four different parking garages, and several open-air parking lots. The closest garage to our location (just two blocks away) is at 149 Peabody Place between Second Street and BB King Blvd., next to the Hampton Inn. You can try your luck with on-street metered parking, too, on Second Street just south of Beale; on Beale between Front and Second; or along Peabody Place from Front to Fourth Street.
  • This tour covers a distance of approximately 2 miles on public sidewalks with some elevation.
  • This tour is conducted outside and does not include entrance into any of these buildings. Please dress accordingly.

Chilling stories & a great guide - The tour guide (Talia) had great energy and struck a good balance between lighthearted jokes, providing historical context, and spooking the participants. The most chilling story for me was about the person re-living MLK’s assassination. The description was very vivid and I felt quite discomfortable. Which is somehow desired for this type of entertainment lol

Daniel is the best for tours - This was one of the coolest things. I grew a personal connection with our tour guide Daniel. He told the best stories and connected to us in a special and unique way. He made us laugh the whole night and got us the best intell and places for the ghost tour. I caught a spirit orb on camera! All thanks to Daniel. I am a music kid, including theatre. Daniel is to, we talked about are plays and musicals that we have been in,him close to his sons age, I'm 15 his son is 12. He is a very kind man, cares about his work and kids so much and loves sharing this tour and his hometown Memphis with all the wonderful people he meets. I couldn't picture a better ghost tour through Memphis without Daniel. He made us laugh, cry, feel real emotions. He even proved he is not a ghost himself by giving everybody a fist bump. How cool is that, that he himself wants to be constantly interacting with our crowd. As we walked he told us stories of every place we walk by. He told us the best food to get best music coolest places for certain things. Anyway I'm rambling but Daniel is my man he is so great

Loud noises everywhere - I really enjoyed when we stopped by Earnestine and Hazels it was more interesting to actually see the inside of the place than to stand in front of a building. Its not the tours fault but this city is the most ridiculously loud place I have ever been. Loud cars squealing tires and blaring music that would get you arrested anywhere else in the US made it impossible to hear most of what the guide was saying.

Nice time - It was fun. Because we were in a Monday night many of the sites were closed. It would have been nice to actually get inside these places…Sheena’s stories were fine but going inside would have made it more exciting. Enjoyed hearing the history of Memphis woven into the stories.
