A great morning at the market - A great way to spend a few hours hearing about the history of the market and sampling the best the market has to offer. Some very generous samples were included from a number of vendors in the market, plus a coffee, gelato and donut. Tour guide Tristian was extremely knowledgeable about the market and had some great recommendations for things to do and see around Melbourne. Definitely recommend for locals or tourists.

A great way to enjoy the market. - The tour guide was very interesting and shared much information about the history of the market and clearly knew through research. The tour guide knew a lot about the produce and where and how it was sourced. The guide had great relationships shops with the stall holders.

Elevated our AO Melbourne experience to 5 stars! - What a great tour and fabulous insight into Melbourne culture and foodie history. The food was delicious and everyone in the group of 8 had plenty to try, most of us bought items as well. The tour leader Tristian was extremely knowledgeable and pleasant, I would definitely recommend him and will book more tours with him next time we are in Melbourne. Coming to the Australian Open and doing some Urban Adventures tours was the very best use of free time! It made our trip!

Highly recommend for tourists and locals alike - Highly recommend this tour for both tourists and locals alike. It’s a great way to see the markets and get to know the stories and faces behind the produce. Tristan was fantastic, very knowledgeable and was fantastic at making sure everyone was included and accommodated for. It was such a special experience to meet the store vendors, hear their stories and try samples of produce that you otherwise might not know existed.

A decent tour into the QVM - I took this tour as part of a free promotion, but I believe it's decently priced at $75, given the small group size and the included tastings like an oyster, a borek, and gelato. As a local, it was hard to be impressed by a tour of the Queen Victoria Market, but I did learn a few new things, which was a pleasant surprise. However, the tour's framing felt misleading. While the market itself is multicultural, the tour was not. The guide's approach to food could be seen a culturally insensitive. The guide showed little knowledge or appreciation for certain cuisines, describing them with a hint of disdain that could easily offend. This was highlighted by her judgmental tone when she discussed the market's 'unhygienic' past, a comment that seemed to ignore the reality of how many traditional wet markets operate worldwide. On the converse the guide celebrated European food with great enthusiasm. In the end, the tour felt whitewashed and failed to genuinely celebrate the market's diversity. Slightly disappointed in Intrepid and perhaps some unconcious bias training is in order. (As in the guide probably didn't even realise how they could come across to some people.) Also I felt it was worthwhile to mention that the the guide also showed little empathy for three small business's that are in the precinct with a purpose that secretly they want displaced / relocated to allow other social enterprises that space. Sure I get it, but they're small business owners too.

Disappointed - Got to the designated meet-up spot. No guide arrived. Called and emailed vendor several times (was during its regular business hours). No response. Waited half hour & then gave up. Vendor called 2 hours later to inform me there was a scheduling error so no guide had been assigned.
