Magnificent Ethiopian Experience!!! - I would like to say that I highly recommend this trip! We travelled to multiple monasteries in the Tigray region and even though I am not an expert climber, the guides gave me all the assistance I needed so I did it! They were always patient in answering and solving our questions and making sure that our Ethiopian experience was unique. We were exposed to history, culture, food and locals that we wouldn't have been exposed to on our own travels anyway, and at a very reasonable price!

Awesome day in Tigray area - We did a one day trip to some of the rock-hewn churches (Abune Yemanta, Maryam Korkor & Daniel Korkor) in the Tigray area and we just loved it. The area is incredibly beautiful and the hikes to get to the churches are really cool (you even have to literally climb for a little while). Zeslasse (or Zee, as he goes by) was our guide. A guy that we met in Lalibela recommended him to us and we were lucky he did. He was a really nice guy with tons of knowledge of his area and the churches. We really enjoyed his company and he felt more like a friend than a guide. The only little letdown was the price to visit the churches. Apparently you have to pay an entrance fee (around 10€ per person) to a guy that comes out of nowhere. I still don't understand why you have to pay just to hike, because even if you don't wanna go in the churches you have to pay the same money. And plus, if you go in the churches the priest will expect a tip from you. We didn't tip them because our guide told us that the money that we had already paid is also partially for the priests. They are very insistent about the tips, though. Just bear that in mind and do whatever you think is more ethical. Other than that, it was one of the best days of our Ethiopian trip and I really recommend Zelasse as a guide. He was the best guide that we had on our 3-week trip around Ethiopia. Excellent three days in Tigray - Haile was a great guide who was knowledgable about the region and listened to my requests about what suited me best. His English is great, so it was easy to talk about Ethiopia and life in general. His driver was safe and cautious. Haile also picked out the perfect accommodations for me based on my budget and preferences. His price was a little higher than other guides I talked to, but his services were worth the price. I recommend traveling as a group in Ethiopia in general since it's the same price whether you're alone or with other people for guides wherever you go.
