Additional Information

We hold the distinction of pioneering a tour in Medellín’s Comuna 8 - an underserved neighborhood that has witnessed a remarkable societal and cityscape change in the past years, thanks to the deployment of Colombia’s first modern tram, the inauguration of two metrocables extending to the farthest corners of the city, and the introduction of the Circunvalar Garden park, renowned for its exquisite vegetation, bird species, and panoramic city views. Furthermore, we partner with the local community to ensure tourism contributes positively.

Just as Paris is recognized for its tower, London for its iconic clock, New York for its soaring skyscrapers, Medellín is renowned for its urban and societal metamorphosis. We invite you to delve into the history, evolution, and accomplishments that earned us the title of ‘the most innovative city in the world’ by City Bank and Wall Street Journal in 2013. And Comuna 8, a celebrated yet unexplored part of the city, is the perfect site to experience this transformative journey.

Location
Metro Cable Linea M - Estación Trece De Noviembre
Calle 56fb
The meeting point will be at the cable-car (Metrocable) station: or Trece de Noviembre or Villa Sierra, depending on the day (please confirm with us through WhatsApp before heading to the place). We recommend you to take the public transport system. First take the metro to San Antonio, there go downstairs and take the tramway. And then, go to the cable car station.

Beautiful Experience in Comuna 8 - Mateo was an incredible guide. He is not only extremely knowledgable about Comuna 8 and Colombia more generally, but his passion and curiosity was palatable and contagious. The tour was an opportunity to explore a less known area of Medellin and connect with the community's diverse offerings, including small local business, coffee farms and beautiful nature and waterfalls.

Very local and chill experience! - I had a really great experience with our tour guide Matteo. I did the comuna 8 tour and we were doing a new route for the first time and it was just filled with beautiful nature, local life, great views and really nice spots for chilling. It was unlike other tours I have done, more relaxed and more time to learn about and admire each place! Plus: we were accompanied by two locals who later invited us to their house for coffee and dinner!

REAL Comuna 8 experience - It's been a great experience with Teo in Comuna 8. Not an everyday ordinary tour, rather a real and non-standard Comuna experience. If you want a true (but very safe) adventure, your right with Teo.

A MUST DO IF YOU’RE IN MEDELLIN!! - We did the Communa 8 tour with Alan - and we recommend this to everyone!!! We were 5 days in Medellin and this was the best memory we have from there. The tour was runned by Alan who lives in this Communa, so he know every street and story and this made it so real. We were touched by everything he told us in regards to the development of the area. It felt so authentic and something out of the ordinary. There are no tourists here and you get to see the real Medellin (not like Communa 13 which is a bit too touristy). We were walking up the mountains to a great view and saw a lot of interesting things along the way. I will not reveal everything to you, but we saw for example one of many vegetable gardens that are built for the poorest citizens. After this we went down to the Communa again and walked around along the small streets. They now have a lot of shops - before they had nothing, no shops and little water. Alan showed us a local place where we ate a really good lunch. Afterwards we visited a local lady in the Communa that made a Colombian desert speciality Thanks Alan!!! We wish you the best of luck and he is the perfect guide - so knowledgeable The communication in advance with the tour company was also great, felt professional

Should Make Time for This! - This was a lovely tour a bit away from the crowded, but very worth comuna 13 tours. Our guide Daniella was fantastic! The place was beautiful and we ended at the Memory Museum, which was key to putting the city's transformation into perspective of the people who lived during the era of violence. A++++

Amazing! - We went with tour guide Mateo through Commune 8, a neighborhood that was in the past a dangerous place for tourist and other locals; with the tour of Wayacan I felt safe and our guide explained a lot of things that has been done by the municipality to bring this neighborhood to where it is today. An amazing experinece!
