Highlights
  • Medellin - The Southwest of Antioquia is one of Colombia’s major coffee-growing regions with approx. 100,000 ha of coffee plantations. This unique coffee region starts just outside of the city of Medellín in the lush green Andean highlands. The tour will start from Medellin and we will drive to Fredonia. There, you will explore a traditional small-scale farm run in the fourth generation by the same family.
  • Fredonia - On less than three hectares a local farmer and his family produce their own coffee brand and give us the unique opportunity to observe the whole coffee processing from the plant to the cup. They grow several varieties of coffee beans such as Castillo, Caturra, and Pajarito.

Stroll through the coffee fields learning more about growing and collecting the coffee beans. Learn about the process of this quality coffee and follow the steps of cultivation, selection, and production. At the end of the circuit plant your own coffee tree. Enjoy an exclusive lunch based on the ancient traditional dishes of Colombia’s Coffee Region. In the afternoon you enter into the fascinating world of aromas and discover the different flavours during a coffee tasting experience. The unique growing conditions and the detailed process of selection and drying at the coffee farm create a soft and balanced coffee with bright acidity and notes of fruits like cherry and citrus.

This is a MUST for your trip to Medellin! - I cannot say enough great things about this tour! Santiago was our guide, and he went above and beyond to make sure we got the best treatment and full experience. (PLEASE ask for him if you can!) We traveled to a coffee farm about 20 minutes outside of the city (Cafe Ayura) where the farm owner gave us some of her coffee and brownies she made. Santiago translated for us, and she proceeded to show us all around her vegetable garden, and explained the entire coffee making process from seed to cup. It was SO interesting and the views were absolutely spectacular. If you are interested in this important industry in Colombia, I highly recommend this tour! :)
