Great trip! - Day trip from Wintergreen with our 6 and 8 year olds. The kids were nervous at first about Dad's lack of experience driving off-road, but everyone had a ball! Shawn was a terrific guide -- full of insight about the vehicle, the region, the terrain... Highly recommend!

Excellent Jeep Instruction & Adventure - Our late November trip with Terra Overland exceeded our expectations. We were looking for something fun to do with our two adult sons(both Jeep drivers), and that would be memorable, adventurous, and open up a new family activity. Sean and Dawn were outstanding - outgoing, patient, instructive, and encouraging, Equipment is top-notch, safety pre-brief and initial guidance helped get everyone oriented, and conversations along the way helped us understand the "why" and the "how" of successful overlanding. Absolutely worth the cost for the experience, and learning on a well equipped vehicle. We drove in from Fairfax County that morning, spent 5 hours on the trail, and headed home. Everyone was tired and happy. Recommend without hesitation!

Off Roading - Amazing Journey into Life, Wildnerness, and Adventure - Went on this amazing journey with my daughter to obtain clarity, peace, and enjoy the beauty of nature. What we found was a life changing experience rife with the understanding that there is so much more in life! The views were breathtaking, and as a Virginia resident I realized there is so much more in this amazing state. Shawn was a wealth of knowledge, talented behind the wheel, and inspiring in his love of the business and conservation of nature! Dawn was so awesome to speak with and answered every question I had about booking! I would highly recommend Terra Overland and all of their adventure packages to everyone I know! If you get the opportunity to go on just one of these life changing adventures, take it! After a single outting you will find yourself coming back again and again, as I know that I will! Thank you Dawn, Shawn, and the Terra Overland company for giving us a sense of adventure, clarity, and renewed sense of purpose! You have life long customers here! Thank you!

Great time on the mountain top! - Planned this tour for my birthday with my brother and his wife. While the weather was not great, the trip was. We had a fantastic time, enjoyed Shawn's knowledge about overlanding, the Shenandoah Valley and Jeeps! All three of us had a ball, and I'm already planning a spring trip to go birding. If you're in the area, I'd highly recommend touring with them, you won't regret it!

Top shelf adventure. Don’t miss out on the Fun, Views , and Nature !! - “AWESOME” I have no other words that can describe this off road trip we took with Shawn and Dawn. Definitely upgrade so you can wheel one of these unbelievable Jeeps. There knowledge of the Virginia mountain range is incredible and you will get to adventure to areas that you would never see as an average tourist. The views we saw were spectacular and at one point of our adventure on an amazing ridge half the jeep is in Virginia and the other half is in WV. We can’t wait to head out again with TerraOverland possibly to camp for a few days. Thank you TerraOverland for the HIGHLIGHT of our vacation and for the respect you have for the forest.

Lifetime Adventure - Truly a lifetime adventure. Every year my adult sons and I take a week to re-bond. Well, this was our best – a week of exciting off-roading and camping. Off-roading is great but what made it unusual was Shawn’s knowledge of the area and his ability to find trails that have not been driven in years. This was not the standard tourist trip – this was a unique experience! Camping with Shawn and Dawn for 5 nights was spectacular – what a pleasure to be with them. I won’t forget cooking around the ‘skottle’ or how well we all slept in the Jeep roof top tents. Many thanks to Shawn and Dawn!

Awesome experience on Union Springs Trail - We had such a great time with Terra Overland! My daughter and I are both car enthusiasts, but had never been off-roading before. Shawn helped us both learn the basics of how to safely drive a Jeep in its natural habitat, while also teaching us about the local area and culture in the Virginia mountains. The obstacles were challenging and exciting for us, but not scary. Shawn was a calm and patient teacher as my daughter and I each got more experience behind the wheel. He also recommended some great restaurants for us to try during the remainder of our Virginia trip!

Beyond expectations - Definitely, the best part of our vacation! Sean and Dawn are so passionate about what they do and it shows in every aspect of this experience. I can't say enough great things about them and what we experienced. The views were amazing and Sean's knowledge of not only Jeeps, but the world around him and his love of it are so refreshing and encouraging. I have always had a passion for the beauty our world possesses, but Sean makes you see it in a completely different way and it's hard to stay inside knowing all the beauty that awaits you. Dawn was so kind and answered every stupid question I had and incredibly patient. I told Sean she is such a great representation of their company and she felt like a friend without ever meeting her. I would go back to Virginia just to see them. It's important to note that we had a person with us that's very fearful of highway driving and was really concerned about this excursion. Dawn really calmed her nerves and she had the best time. Even wanted to sit in the front seat at one point, which is a huge breakthrough. We also had two teenage boys with us that really enjoyed the experience as well. In addition, the knowledge that Sean shared with us I'm sure they will carry with them forever.

Union Spring Trail drive - Fantastic experience!! The entire process was was great! Shawn, Dave, and Dawn did everything they could do to make our day happen for us! I’ve done some off roading before, but this was above and beyond my expectations. Dave, our guide, was really informative and friendly, felt more like I was out wheelin’ with a buddy than a guide. We travelled up the Union Springs trail stopping whenever we wanted for my daughter to take pictures. Stopped and had lunch at one of the campsites, Dave set up the table and a couple super comfy fold up chairs that actually rocked! From there we proceeded to climb the mountain and hit the mud bogs, which was awesome! Almost to the end of the trail, Dave pointed out a rock wall that apparently used to be an Indian/Colonial trading post. He said there was remnants of the original foundation at the top of the mountain, so I asked if we could go explore it. He was ecstatic that we wanted to, lol! We discovered that it wasn’t on top of the mountain, it was right there behind the wall just off the trail. We found original stairs, a fireplace, a few different walls and construction dating from colonial times to as late as the 1900’s. This was just a magnificent trip, topped off with the scenic view from atop Reddish Knob, which I took my wife back up to for the sunset that evening!! Can’t say enough good things about Dave, Shawn, and Dawn who make up Terra Overland!! Thank you guys!!

YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS UNIQUE ADVENTURE!!! - Don't pass on this amazing opportunity! My wife and I are return clients and recently experienced another awesome adventure with Shawn, trekking through GW National Forest in the most capable Jeep I have ever driven!!! We elected to do a more tailored experience this time building on my previously acquired skills of rock crawling and more technical trail riding. Shawn really elevated my off-road confidence and proficiency. Our last encounter was in Winter and it was entirely different this time being that is was Summer. It will never the same experience twice due to weather, seasons, trail conditions etc. This adventure is for EVERYONE...beginners, intermediate, or advanced off-roaders! If your friends have a Jeep, and you'd like to join them without all the expense and maintenance costs, then this is for you. If you have a personal 4WD that you are unsure if it will make the local trails then this is a great way to check things out before potentially risking scratches or bumps to your daily driver (I have had F-150 4WDs for over 20 years and was always concerned about damaging my primary vehicle, so this is a perfect situation for us). If you want a highly experienced guide/trainer/scout teach you the off-road ropes and the trails in the area, then this is for you...If you just want to go on your own and camp/explore overnight and find your own paths, then this is for you. These jeeps have EVERYTHING you could possibly need...even a refrigerator!!! We'll be back again as soon as we get more vacation time! Thanks again Shawn and Dawn for another great time...and the cupcakes :-)
