• El Faro Mazatlan - Built in 1879, this lighthouse is situated at the southern tip of the city and stands as one of Mazatlan’s most iconic landmarks. We’ll drive by and offer you the chance to climb to the top, which is 500 feet above sea level, providing breathtaking views of the entire city and the Sierra Madre mountains in the background. There are numerous opportunities to capture stunning photos on the way up. Additionally, there’s a glass floor bridge extending from the hillside. It’s advisable to bring bottled water and a small towel to stay refreshed in the warm weather. We’ll then continue driving along the Bay Area towards the Olas Altas neighborhood, making a few stops at lookout points for photo opportunities. The driver will share basic historical information and answer any questions you may have.

• Playa Olas Altas - As we drive along Paseo del Centenario, we’ll soon reach the oldest beachfront hotels, known as Olas Altas, a favorite among tourists and locals. This area is rich in history and features coffee shops, restaurants, and bars. You can choose to take a short walking tour or continue riding through the historical center. Capture a photo of Carpa Olivera, a saltwater pool in the ocean built in 1914, and watch the waves refill the pool. Continue along Angel Flores Street, known for its colorful houses and being one of the most photographed streets in Olas Altas.

• Punta de Clavadistas - Mazatlan boasts its own diving tradition at a small ocean-side park on the Malecon. Divers leap from a 50ft high platform into water that is just 5 or 6ft deep. This cliff diving tradition dates back to the mid-1900s when the platform was constructed on the Malecon.

• Plaza Machado - Built in 1837 by wealthy Filipino businessman Juan Nepomuceno Machado, this town square reflects the area’s affluence of that era. Plaza Machado is surrounded by beautiful palm trees, gardens, restaurants, bars, and shops that maintain the classic architecture. While strolling through the plaza, admire the famous Angela Peralta Theatre located nearby. The theatre was rebuilt in 1993 after enduring a dramatic history of hurricanes, floods, and near demolition.

• Catedral Mazatlan Basilica de la Inmaculada Concepcion - This stunning Baroque and Gothic-style church is located in downtown Mazatlan. Construction began in 1856 and was completed in 1899. The interior is uniquely ornate with chandeliers, marble, wood, and gold. An interesting historical fact is that the Jewish community helped fund the church’s completion and, in return, had the Star of David incorporated into 28 stained-glass windows. Across the street from the cathedral is Plaza Republica, a town square surrounded by trees, palm trees, and beautiful gardens.

• Mercado Pino Suarez - Operating since 1899, this market is a daily destination for both locals and tourists seeking groceries and souvenirs. You’ll have 30 minutes of free time to explore or shop for souvenirs. Don’t miss Panama Bakery for fresh bakery items, cakes, pies, and treats.

• Malecon de Mazatlan - The Malecon is a coastal boardwalk stretching around 20km from the south end of Olas Altas beach to Valentino’s night club in the Golden Zone. It’s considered the second-longest beachfront walkway in the world and serves as the main stage for many of Mazatlan’s events, like Carnival. Along the Malecon, you’ll find numerous fountains, monuments, attractions, and photo opportunities.

• Golden Zone - Visit the Seashell City Museum, open since 1979, which offers an extensive collection of various seashells of all kinds, sizes, and shapes. This area features a wide variety of businesses and activities, including souvenir shops, restaurants, jewelry stores, bars, markets, and the Playa Gaviotas beach area. You’ll have the option to explore the area, enjoy lunch at a good restaurant, or spend some time at Playa Gaviotas beach before heading back to the ship.
