  • 8G84PGFJ+6XX - Olive Harvesting in Eastern Mani
Since ancient times, olive harvesting has been an integral part of late Fall/ Winter in most of Greece -and especially in Mani where few other crop trees can withstand the arid climate.
Participants will visit an olive grove in the Mani countryside and experience how olives are harvested. If they wish, they may participate in some aspects of the harvest, including the laying out of the sheets to gather the falling olives under the trees, the transport of branches to the harvesting machine, and the bonhomie among the crew. All our olive groves have wonderful panoramic views of the surrounding countryside
The experience also includes a visit to a local olive press to see how olive oil is made. Visitors who participate during Kalamata (edible) olive picking season (early November will learn how to prepare this type of olives)
