Additional Information

Situated at the utmost southwestern point of the Indian Ocean’s Mauritius Island, on the wind swept side, Le Morne Brabant is a peninsula. It features a namesake basaltic rock formation, peaking at 556 meters above sea level. This location offers one of the most memorable hiking experiences on Mauritius, showcasing breathtaking views of the island’s southwestern region. It is a must-visit for all!

It is an excellent choice for those who have a deep appreciation for nature and a thirst for adventure. Since July 6, 2008, UNESCO has recognized this site as a World Heritage, as it served as a refuge for escaped slaves. It holds a profound cultural and heritage significance for every Mauritian. The mountain is also a habitat for numerous endemic species, including the scarce Trochetia Boutonania with its fiery red blossom.

Excellent experience - The hike was remarkably safe, offering not only a refreshing outdoor adventure but also a rich educational journey. Throughout the hike, knowledgeable guides provided history of the land and explanations about the various plant species we encountered along the way. These made the hike both enjoyable and enlightening.

A surreal experience - The transfer was smooth to and from Le Morne. The actual hike was a phenomenal experience. Yudish, the guide for our group, was very knowledgable about the history of the mountain, Mauritius and the plants on the mountain. I am afraid of heights so at certain times during the hike for scared, but Yudish made me feel comfortable and safe. Would definitely recommend!

Views to die for and one of the nicest guides ever - First of all, I only use Viator. It simply is the most trusted and best tour operator you will find! Any problems and Viator will resolve them for you at ease and without issue. As for the tour itself, we had a very pleasant driver who had to be up super early to collect us from the other side of the island and he made us feel very comfortable and welcome. The mountain climb, I say climb as it was no hike was a very memorable experience and quite a challenge. Our guide Matt/ Matthieu was such a great guy, he made us feel safe bud we got on really well, exchanged contact details and remain in touch. He is an expert guide and was very helpful for other people on the tour who found the climb to be quite a challenge. My partner and I regularly go to the gym and that cling was a serious workout. You can’t really see the underwater waterfall illusion from the top of the mountain but the views are still absolutely breathtaking and it was well worth the experience. If you book through this tour operator ask for Mathieu as you can be in better hands he really looked after us well and went the extra mile to ensure we had a memorable and safe experience
