- Maalaea Harbor - Embark on your seafaring journey with a snorkeling expedition that offers a little bit of everything. After departing Ma’alaea Harbor, we’ll aim for Molokini crater, giving you the chance to snorkel in its pristine, crystal-clear waters. A second stop at Turtle Town, a known resting spot for resident Honu, will round out a perfect morning before returning home.
Molokini is a marine reserve with spectacular water clarity and a pristine coral reef. Rated one of the best snorkeling spots in the world, this reef has a variety of beautiful reef fish and animals. More than 400 varieties of fish are found in the Hawaiian waters and more than 25% of these are endemic, they are found only in Hawaii. Occasionally we see dolphins, Whales, Manta rays, and Hawaiian Monk seals.
Turtle Arches offers a pristine coral reef system nestled at the base of Pu’u Olai (Red Hill) near Makena State Park. The caverns and ledges in the coral and lava create the perfect habitat for sponges, corals, octopus, fish, eels, and shrimp. The highlight of this reef is the number of Green Sea Turtles that call this area home.

We offer snorkeling demonstrations to all, irrespective of their skill level. The cost of your charter encompasses a complete array of snorkeling and flotation devices, like high-end silicon masks, snorkels and fins, boogie boards, flotation belts, water noodles, wetsuit tops, optical masks, and large, comfy beach towels. Once your delightful snorkeling escapade concludes, you can indulge in a soothing ‘rinse-off’ shower in one of our four warm fresh-water showers.
- In order to access the vessel, you will need to walk down a pier and step across a gap onto the deck. Crew will be able to assist with the gap.
- Restrooms are accessible via 2-4 steps down into the cabin and into the restrooms.

Very professional, friendly, top-notch company - Captain Bre and her top notch crew did a fantastic job with our snorkeling excursion to Molokini plus a stop in "turtle town" where turtles are known to hang out. The entire crew was super friendly, skilled, and knowledgeable about the wildlife we were seeing (whales, turtles, fish), and they made sure everyone (of ALL ages) was having a good time. The boat was large and comfortable, and the food was also very good. Even the so-so weather did not dampen anyone's spirits. Bonus: whale sightings all throughout our trip. We have done other catamaran and snorkelling trips elsewhere (in the Caribbean), and compared to those, this outfit was the best, most professional, best watercraft, best crew by far. Highly recommend this company.

Spectacular as usual! - We have lost count on how many sailings we’ve had with Alii Nui…started in 2015 and other than a delayed flight that took days off our vacation in December 2022…we have never come to Maui without a planned excursion with Alii Nui. At times we have gone twice. Thinking this was our 11th or 12th. Bree, who has been our captain on our last couple of sailings is not only a true professional, but is engaging, so friendly, and warm with all the guests. The crew is amazing. They are there to make your experience as best as humanely possible. A premium experience you won’t regret!

A favorite for me - This excursion was excellent! From the boat, to the crew, to the captain, to the food, to the whale sightings, it was a great morning out.
While I wasn’t one of the lucky folks who saw sea turtles at that stop, I did get to see a spotted eagle ray at Molokini Crater. And we saw many whales on the way to and from our snorkeling destinations. And since this outfit also does whale watching tours, the captain was knowledgeable and made it like a two for one outing.
Overall I had a fantastic time, and the bar for me has definitely been raised for my excursions. Thank you Maui Dive and Ali’i Nui captain and crew!

Great day on the water for both snorkelers and divers. - Had a wonderful time out to Molokini! The staff was top notch, the boat is beautiful, great food and drinks, and plenty of space for everyone on the boat.
One of us snorkeled and one dove. Was a perfect option for that mix and our dive instructor Mark was great. Made it a quality dive for all levels.

Delightful adventure, boat and staff - It was such a windy day and yet it was an amazing adventure. They found a reef out of the wind for us to snorkel. Captain Bre was in control and I thought she was amazing. The staff was delightful Joe from Arizona and his wife, very personable staff. The food was delicious and I have been on many of these catamaran trips over the years with my husband’s company and this was the nicest boat, cleanest bathroom I have seen. Did I mention the food! It was a little early to drink but your wine selection was impressive. Those labels were not the usual fare, but nice bottles of CA wine. I would 100% seek them out again.

Fantastic! - Absolutely worth the price tag!! The crew was phenomenal, incredibly kind, informative, and knowledgeable. We saw sea turtles, eels, an eagle ray, and of course lots of fish! The food was just okay, but the trip and service were top notch! Can’t recommend Ali anyone and Captain Bre enough!

5 Star Experience with Ali’i Nui! - Incredible experience with Ali’i Nui. They picked us up at the Grand Wailea and took us to the harbor without any issue. Once on board we were greeted with breakfast and an orientation as to what we could expect for the day. Everything was fantastic from start to finish. We had perfect weather for our thanksgiving day snorkel adventure. We stopped at turtle town just off Makena Beach before heading to Molokini. Both spots were filled with clear waters and tons of wildlife. On our way back we were treated to a bit of whale watching. We will definitely book with Ali’i Nui again in the future!

Wonderful Snorkel trip with Alii Nui - I had a blast snorkeling at Turtle Town and the outer reef at Molokini. Absolutely incredible. Definitely go! We also motored around the back side of the crater which was cool to see. The crew was very attentive to each passenger and they made sure we had what we needed at all times. The food was fantastic and the drinks were delicious. We saw a couple of whales’ blowholes and tails at least three times - which is a bit early in the season so that was awesome. There were around 40 people on the trip but plenty of space for everyone. I was still able to find spots away from the crowd. I got to have a few chats with the crew and that was cool to connect. I really appreciated the hotel pick-up (Mahalo Ryan!), the professional photographer on board and in the water (Mahalo Emily!), and all the crew!

This is a must do! - Terrific experience of morning snorkeling with these guys, they are fun and super skilled in what they do. The service is high standard, from the hotel pick up to the end. I spent 6 hours and that included a nice breakfast, good equipment for beginners and experienced people. There were some refreshments between the 2 snorkeling spots. First stop was in the Crater and second was nearby Walea beach. Many many fishes, turtles, and octopus. The lunch was good, with decent wine and finishing up with a nice sailing cruise. Instructions were impeccable. Professional photographer aboard with the possibility to buy the pictures. I do recommend!

Great crew & boat - but packed & Not a small group - Amazing crew, nice boat, good food, but definitely not a “small group” as advertised. 59 new friends packed out the boat and the snorkeling areas. A good trip and 2 incredible snorkeling locations, but definitely do not expect a small group or 1/2 capacity.
