Great way to Get An Intro to Surfing! - My husband and I took a lesson with Kyle today and it was beyond great. He made us instantly feel comfortable and safe and knew exactly how to build our confidence and give us a taste of surfing for us two novices. Thanks for a fun time and memory!

Great surf lessons for the family - Great experience for the three of us. I surfed 30 years ago, so this was a refresher (much needed). The other two including my 6 year old daughter were new to surfing. We all got up every single try. Kohala was our instructor and she is the best on the beach. As some have said, the lesson area is crowded, but in our 2 hours, the three of us each got 10+ waves. Remember, a huge part of surfing is being one with the ocean and waiting for those waves. We will go back every time we are on Maui. Unfortunately, we had our lessons the day before the Hurricane Dora Wildfires hit on August 8 2023. From the pictures on August 9th, their building burned down and nothing is left. Some of the instructors lived right behind the shop. It looks like the trainer down the street with all their boards burned also. We are devastated, but when they rebuild, we will be back. We hope all of them are safe. Awesome experience! - Amazing experience for my 7-year-old daughter and husband both surfing for the first time with MWR! Loved the whole team and lesson -- especially, Star, who was super patient, encouraging and they both had a great time. Highly recommend!

Awesome instructor - Our instructor Kabela was awesome. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. She was patient and made sure my daughter was able to get up and ride a wave!

Super fun learn to surf experience! - I brought my kids (ages 11, 15, 17 and 17) for a semi-private lesson. They had a blast! The youngest only briefly got up, but the others caught several waves. We were given an option to purchase professional photos of the kids, which I definitely recommend. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. We were able to leave our beach chairs in the main area while we went to eat next door, which was definitely helpful. Highly recommend this experience!

Our boys (8 and 10) loved their surf lesson - Our two boys (8 and 10) wanted to try surfing on our trip to Maui in January and the folks at Maui Surfriders couldn’t have been nicer! Our instructor was friendly, patient with the boys, and had great stories about the area. We also purchased the photo package and it was totally worth it! Highly recommend!

A Must do Do!!! - Freddy was amazing my girls had a great time. I would recommend the semi-private lesson as individual go out 1 at a time with the instructors.

Fun and successful first time surfing experience - My husband and I had a great lesson with Starr. She provided clear, easy to follow instruction and guidance, and while it was my first time surfing and my husband's second in a very long while, we were both able to stand up on our first attempt in the water. The beach location is quite busy with other surf lesson takers, and I was initially concerned it might detract from our experience... but things were pretty orderly with people waiting to the side to take their turns, and Starr did a great job helping us navigate around other people and find clear paths to safely catch good waves. My husband and I took turns — one of us out catching waves with Starr while the other waited on the sidelines — and between the two of us, we both felt like we had plenty of instruction time and each had our fill of active surfing. The water is generally pretty shallow, and you can easily stand up and walk around navigate through people. However, the area is pretty rocky, so just be mindful of how you get off your board at the end of a wave (I was a bit careless until I banged and scraped my knee!). Otherwise, great fun and a successful lesson.

Excellent time with Starr - Had an excellent time with Starr. This was my boyfriends first lesson and my second lesson. She was patient and made the experience enjoyable. We spent 10 minutes going over safety and surfing basics before spending the rest of the time in the water. We both were able to catch a few waves and were provided good feedback throughout to help improvise our skills. Quality surf boards, shirts, and shoes provided. MWR worked with a great photographer as well that enhanced our experience. At the end we got a parting gift and surf certificate. Will be taking lessons with them again when we come back to Maui

Fantastic Surfing Experience - We signed our 7 and 10 year old sons up for surfing lessons and our experience was terrific! The boys had Manu as their instructor and he was patient, fun and very professional. He boys of our kids up on the surfboard before the end of the lesson. This was a great Hawaiian experience that we highly recommend.
