First time surfer - now addicted! - My daughter had a private lesson with Dillon, and it was the BEST! She felt completely comfortable despite it being her first time out there, and now she cannot wait to go back! Everything about this experience was top notch, and the price was extremely reasonable. Thanks for giving us memories we will not forget!

YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED!!! - My 10 year old grandson from Arizona has always wanted to learn to surf. I did my research ahead of our trip to Maui. I knew I wanted a private lesson. This was perfect. It was worth the trip from lahaina. Konan was wonderful. My grandson rode a lot of waves to shore. He had so much fun and is ready for more practice thanks to Konan. The surf lesson was smooth running from start to finish. They even had a hose to get every grain of sand off. We love this place. All staff were so friendly and helpful and they even took a lot of pics of the surfers for very cheap. This is the BEST PLACE if you are trying to read the reviews and get the best for your money. Would do it again if needed but Konan did such an excellent job we just need practice.

Private surf lesson - Tom is the MAN!! - My wife and I booked a private surf lesson for our honeymoon and could not have been happier with Maui Wave Riders! It was very close to our hotel (Four Seasons) and came highly recommended by the concierge. We went out with two instructors - Lelani and Tom (the owner) - and they were so patient and helped us get up on our first waves with ease. Especially for two First time surfers, the helped us understand how to approach the waves and keep balance. I highly recommend going with this company!

Fantastic surf classes at Maui Waveriders - The staff at Wave riders are all so friendly and professional. We had an awesome class from Lisa, who is such a pro! She knows what she is talking about and is responsible and fun in the water! We took a private class as a family of four and all enjoyed the waves! Thank you Lisa!

Andrew was an awesome instructor for my 11 year old! - My son had a fantastic time with his private lesson from Andrew, which led to an awesome time. It started with the basics and led to my son standing in no time! Take advantage of an opportunity to have a lesson while in Hawaii!

AMAZING! So fun! - So much fun!!!! These guys made something that I was dreading, something that I now want to do again and again! Warning: YOU WILL BECOME ADDICTED TO SURFING! I was fortunate enough to have John as my instructor one morning and he taught me loads in no time at all. I was up on waves straight away and he continued to help with tips on posture, speed, turning, etc. The lesson was so fun and the sport was so non-intimidating that I booked a second round of lessons with John again. These few hours made my time in Maui that much more incredible. Be sure to get copies of the photos they take of you as well….they have the ability to make anyone look like a pro out there and you can focus on enjoying yourself while their photographers capture your fun!

First Time Surfing - Our 15 year old daughter took a private surfing lesson with Maui Waveriders last week and loved every minute of it! Her instructor, Pono, was very good to work with her and she was able to get up and catch some waves in a short time. It was the highlight of her trip to Maui.

Third Time Fun - This was our second trip to Maui, but our third trip to Maui Wave Riders. Again, we had a great time with these instructors.They are friendly, fun, and patient. The water was very still the day we went but they would work to find us as many possibilities as they could. During wave waiting time they gave us tips on local places to visit/eat in Maui. Great pictures. We would definitely do it again. Thanks again for a great time.

Great experience for surfing newbies - Great experience for those who want to try surfing. We had a dedicated instructor for myself, my spouse and our 6 year old. They provide everything you need and keep it simple and fun. Surfing does require some physical fitness and willingness to get a face full of saltwater. As you can see, they also provide a photographer so (for an extra fee) you can capture the moment. I removed one star only because our instructor was not vaccinated and did not wear a mask — but keep in mind that you are outdoors the whole time and its breezy — so the risk is questionable.
