Worth it! - Traveling with our kids and grandkids. Joe contacted us the night before to confirm the pick up time and place, which was right next to the cruise ship. He had obviously done a lot of homework, as he was able to answer of many questions skillfully. We enjoyed the short hike about half way to the top of Haleakala, learning about the land, the trees and the beautiful birds. The views of the Maui valley were incredible. The Hawaiian snack was delicious. As we had been warned, it was windy and chilly at the summit, so be prepared. The crater looks like something from Mars. While on top we experienced how quickly the weather can change here, going from clear to immersed in clouds in a very short time. On the way down we enjoyed hearing about Joe’s experiences as he transitioned from being a mainlander to a Hawaiian resident. We had a terrific time and learned a lot. I can recommend this tour and this company. (Keep in mind that not all tour companies have the permit needed to go into the national park.)

Above the clouds - The tour was awesome. Views and vistas exceptional. Our tour guide was well informed and allowed us to ask numerous questions. Being in the clouds on a volcano was a mystical experience. Don't miss this opportunity!

Stunning scenery with a wonderful guide - We booked our trip to Maui before the Lahaina fire and decided to book excursions with locals as a way of supporting the island. The Hola Hola tours are very well-reviewed and our experience with Gus, one of the owner-operators of the business, was terrific. He is the warmest, friendliest person, full of knowledge about Maui and the sites we visited and very open about himself and his family. We took a leisurely trip up through Hale’akala National Park, stopping at Hofsen’s Grove with its amazing variety of trees, and then up to the summit, where we did a leisurely hike and took in the absolutely stunning views. We opted not to stay up there for sunset—we were chilled, even though we had packed layers—and Gus was super-attentive to our needs. He’s also a great and confident driver, which was reassuring on some of those hairpin turns.

Personalized Haleakala Adventure - What was great about our private tour is that our unique interests were acknowledged and met. Our guide, Joe, asked about our expectations and "wish list" and made them happen. We noticed that we had plenty of time to linger at spectacular sites and other points of interest. Joe provided excellent commentary related to geography, geology, the observatory, the history of the trees on the Hosmer Grove trail and camping opportunities in the park. We appreciated his time in spotting and identifying indigenous birds of Maui for us. Joe was passionate about preserving the heritage of Maui and made suggestions of other "must see" experiences on the island. He was professional, engaged us in discussions and was very personable. We also had communication with Jasmine of Holo Holo Maui Tours (the tour company). She responded back to us very quickly with answers to questions we had before the experience. The guided experience was everything we had hoped for and we were not rushed or had an agenda pushed on us. When we realized that we had gone over time, Joe shared that this is a positive aspect of a private tour. We had an amazing time and would like to share that Maui is open for business. Every encounter was excellent so, come and immerse yourself in the culture of Maui (and we highly recommend Holo Holo Maui Tours for those wishing a private tour experience).

Best tour in Maui - We did two tours with this company All the Way Around and Summit. Joe one day and Jasmine another. This is an amazing way to see the island! The personalized attention made it so we had the best coconut ice cream and the best food trucks! We were able to spend more time at the things we enjoyed and skipped the things I knew my teens would not be interested in. Highly recommend!

Simply Amazing! - This was the perfect tour for our family trip to Maui. With ages ranging from 1 to 64 our group of 8 was treated with so much kindness and respect from the minute we met our guide, Jasmine. It was the highlight of our trip and she imparted so much knowledge of Hawaiian culture as well as science/geography to my children. Would highly recommend this company! I do not normally write reviews but was blown away with the impeccable attention to detail and hospitality!

Incredible Highlights of Haleakala - Incredible, majestic, and beautiful! Simply said, this was our favorite tour of all due to our excellent tour guide, Kea. This tour exceeded expectations as we were treated with such kindness from the very first notification of our tour. We were warmly greeted and made very comfortable in our tour van. One can really feel the value and love of the land as Kea related stories and history in such an intriguing manner. He answered questions, pointed out highlights, and offered Hawaiian pronunciation hints. We laughed and visited as he was part of our family! Haleakala was fascinating and we casually hiked at our leisure. The pineapple and banana bread stop at Hoser Trail was wonderful. We were able to move at our own pace, hike as we were comfortable, stopped at incredible viewpoints, and learned so much about the area. Another highlight was the Iao Needle Lookout Trail/Valley stop! Breathtaking! Loved this tour, love this tour company, and love our guide, Kea, who made this one of our best memories of Hawaii. (Fact: the next day we took a tour from a different unnamed company and tour guide/driver to The Road to Hana. We REALLY wished Kea was our guide and driver! It was still a good tour, but the guide was an aggressive driver and a bit arrogant and dismissive of any questions asked by his passengers. We will do definitely only do tours with Holo Holo Tours and Kea, if possible!)

Stunning and breathtaking crater.. - Thanks to Holo Holo Maui and their great guide Joe we have had an amazing trip to the Haleakalā Vulcano. The drive to it, with a stop over at the Hosmer Grove for a short stroll and stunning birds, was already great but the view at the top and in the crater is really breathtaking. Thank you Joe for taking us on a short hike into the crater and making it an unforgettable beautiful day!! If you are interested in a tour to the crater… book it at/with Holo Holo Maui Tours!
