Shore diving on Maui offers the perfect conditions to try diving for your first time. Under the guidance of your dedicated instructor, you will learn about the basics of diving, practice a few skills in shallow water to get comfortable with breathing, and how to use the equipment before continuing for an exhilarating scuba dive. Guests often see turtles, eels, and large schools of tropical fish! The entire Introductory Dive experience takes about 2.5 hours.

Swimming Ability in the ocean is REQUIRED.
You must wait at least 18 hours to fly, zipline, or ascend to Haleakala AFTER your dive(s).
Before your lesson begins, you will fill out a medical statement to confirm that you are in good health to scuba dive. You must be able to answer “NO” to each question. A “YES” ON THE MEDICAL STATEMENT REQUIRES A DOCTOR CLEARANCE. Google “PADI Medical Form” to review and make sure you can answer no.
FAILURE TO ADHERE TO EACH OF THE ABOVE 3 STATEMENTS WILL LEAD TO REMOVAL FROM THE EXPERIENCE WITHOUT A REFUND.

MANDATORY READ: You MUST possess swimming skills in order to join the Introductory Dive. This mandates each participant to be capable of unaided swimming in the sea. A Private Dive is MANDATORY for less confident swimmers, accessible in an independent listing. Falsification of your swimming competency will result in dismissal from the activity with NO REFUND.

- Minimum age to participate is 10
- Guests should be able to carry a minimum of 30lbs for a short distance
- After diving you must wait 18 hours to fly or ascend to 1,000 feet or more
- Guests MUST be proficient at swimming in order to complete this activity. If you show up for diving and cannot swim, you forfeit your participation in the experience as well as your right to a refund.
- Must be able to answer NO to each question on the Medical Statement. A YES answer requires a doctor clearance. Failure to secure a doctor clearance when needed forfeits the ability to dive and the right to a refund. Please contact Banyan Tree Divers ahead of time for a copy of the medical form if you have any health concerns that might affect your ability to dive.
- Transportation not included. Please let us know if you will not have a rental car.
- Not recommended for travelers with asthma or sinus medical conditions
- Proficient SWIMMING ABILITY IS REQUIRED. This means that each student must be able to swim unassisted in the ocean.
