Watching the sun gradually ascend over Haleakala National Park and bathe the stunning island of Maui in its light is a unique experience that can only be termed as once-in-a-lifetime. With our Majestic Haleakala Sunrise Tour, you get the opportunity to witness this spectacle at the peak of Haleakala Mountain, a trip you will not forget.
When you reach the summit, our expert local guides from Valley Isle Excursions will ensure you enjoy the finest experience—they will show you the best spots to take in the view, share tips on how to see the sunrise at its best, and regale you with the island’s rich history.
Following the sunrise, we’ll take you on a brief tour of the rest of Haleakala National Park and the adjacent ranch lands.
End the tour with an exclusive breakfast at the Maui Tropical Plantation, where you’ll have three choices:
A – Muesli made with Stoneground grains, coconuts and Yoghurt, served with Fresh Fruits
B – A traditional Plantation Breakfast of Bacon, Portuguese Sausage, Scrambled Eggs, and Hash Browns made with Sweet Potatoes from Molokai
C – Mouthwatering Macadamia Nut Pancakes served alongside Bacon and Portuguese Sausage
- Because of the elevation gain, anyone suffering from breathing issues should consult with a doctor. We do have an oxygen generator on-board.

Triple Treat! - What a great trip! Alex and Everett were fantastic, or as Alex would say, Cherry! We were treated to three special events, a moonbow, blood moon and incredible sunrise. The weather was perfect and the sunrise over the clouds could not have been better scripted. Advise to anyone taking this trip... when you think you have enough layers, add a couple more. Everrett advised when we got on the bus that the tempurature drop will be 3 degrees for every 1000 ft of elevation, so 30 degree drop. Thank goodness the guides had fleece lined ponchos for us, what a life saver!! Thanks guys!

Well worth the trip! - Fantastic tour with Everett. So grateful for the ponchos to keep us warm! It’s an early morning but the bus was comfortable and made it easy to nap on the way to Haleakala.

Breathtaking! - Absolutely worth every penny. The guides were amazing and so kind. They even provided ginger chews in case anyone became nauseated from winding roads. Word of caution though - when they say it is cold on the summit, they mean it! Even as two Canadians, we found it bone chilling with the wind. Thankfully, we were provided warm ponchos!

Unforgettable - Our guide, Spencer, was nothing short of awesome! When you’re being picked up at 2am from a hotel and driving up a mountain of switchbacks, he took extra time to take each turn slowly so we could sleep. Spencer also shared every planned bathroom stop, ETAs, sunrise time and made this a very relaxing trip. We got the best, unimpeded view of the sunrise, hearing the chant as the sun was welcomed. Spencer brought us to a great photo op overlooking the valley isle, stopped to show us silverswords, and got us to breakfast and back to the hotels right on time. I would highly recommend this experience, and they mean business when they say dress warm! The ponchos they provide were a lifesaver😊

Sunrise was not great and got clouded over quickly but it was still really cool and guides made it fun anyway. - Guides are awesome and knowledgeable. You also offer the best coats of any other tour group. I saw them all and ours covered the most and was the warmest

Best Way to Experience Haleakala Sunrise - Another above and beyond expedition during our recent trip to Maui. Valley Isle Excursions, in our honest opinion, is the best way to see this majestic view of mother nature. From the moment we booked online, to the communication right up until 30 minutes before our pick up right at our condo rental, to the drive to Haleakala, it was seamless. Our tour guides Billy and Abe were absolutely amazing, friendly, informative with a great sense of humor.
The lined ponchos were a much needed added bonus and definitely appreciated as the temperatures and winds were quite frigid (and we are from Canada!). Be prepared even with the ponchos - dress in layers.
The breakfast at the Plantation was delish and a great stop before we were returned back to our condo late morning to enjoy the rest of our day in paradise.
We wish Billy a well deserved retirement and all the very best to Abe.
