Additional Information

Tours by Polynesian Adventure Maui are now available and we eagerly await the opportunity to share the island’s splendor with you. As part of our efforts to aid the healing of the west side, we respectfully request your assistance. We are also excited to show visitors the other extraordinary regions of Maui that remain pristine.

Experience the start of a new day from the summit of Haleakala (or house of the sun) – a sleeping volcano that offers panoramic views of Maui’s eastern side. The rugged landscapes with deep crevices and slopes are the natural habitats of the exclusive Hawaiian Nene geese and the scarce Silversword plants.

A comfortable mini-coach will take you to an elevation of 9,740 feet, just shy of the peak where you’ll witness an unsurpassed sunrise; a breathtaking spectacle of lights and shades. The sunrise tour promises an enduring memory and is certainly a must-have experience on your Hawaiian trip. As you descend, soak in the vast views of Kula and the expansive Pacific Ocean, en-route to a breakfast at the local hot-spot, Mill House Restaurant in Waikapu.

  • Please contact the tour provider at minimum of 7 days prior to the tour date for ADA and all special requests.
  • Haleakala is known for rapidly changing weather conditions and dense clouds and rain are common. As a result, clear viewing of the sunrise is not guaranteed, and the tour operates rain or shine. Refunds will be granted only when the tour is cancelled for safety reasons.
  • The high altitude at the summit area may complicate health conditions and breathing difficulties. Elderly visitors, pregnant women, young children, and those with respiratory or heart conditions should consult their doctor prior to touring. Walk slowly and drink water to avoid dehydration. If you have gone scuba diving, you should wait at least 72 hours before going on this tour.

Amazing sunrise over Haleakala! - Preston was an amazing tour guide. He was so informative. The sunrise was unlike anything I had ever experienced. It was a beautifully clear sky and the sunrise was picture perfect. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone. Do not miss it.

Breaktaking sunrise and Mountain View’s - The views were amazing! We took tons of pictures. Preston was the best tour guide ever. He had so much knowledge in history. We couldn’t have picked a better guide ourselves. Truly priceless opportunity.

Worth the 2am wake up call! - Preston did an amazing job guiding us through the entire morning. It's going to be colder than you expect, especially with the wind at the summit.

Sunrise Tour - The sunrise itself was the most memorable for us. The breakfast was nice as well. The tour guide had great knowledge of the sites as well. My only feedback would be to carry some extra blankets and gloves for the guests.

To see or not to see - First of all it was really really cold! Layer up, coats, gloves, hats, and a blanket would help. Second of all not a guarantee you will see a sunrise. There was so much clouds the sunrise kept getting hidden. Lastly my breakfast okay, my granddaughters pancakes were very good. Proceed with caution when booking.
