Don't Visit Maui Without Doing This! - This was an absolutely amazing experience! I would highly recommend this for anyone who is visiting Maui. Our guides, Dan and Tim, were not only hilarious, but so patient and kind. Dan shared so many wonderful historical facts about the island, along with some really fun myths. :)

Rain or shine ride! - They were very informative on the Eco-Volcano tour. We rose above the clouds and really enjoyed it. Even though it poured down rain, which the guides could not control. They had the highest standards of safety! I am just proud of myself for achieving a goal. Maybe next time the sun will shine!

Amazing summit views and fun descent! - Amazing summit views and fun descent! We loved the guided mid-morning ride with Haleakala Bike! Kimo was a wonderful guide; we very much appreciated his true aloha spirit. Kimo's enthusiasm for Hawaii's natural and cultural heritage made for interesting commentary and conversation. It was a treat to be driven to the summit with it's amazing and beautiful views prior to our ride. The bikes (and brakes!) are in very good condition. The guided tour allows you to ride the entire lane width, as opposed to just the right side, which I felt was more fun and relaxing. Our guide Tim kept everyone as a safe distance, etc. I did not feel rushed on the ride and we had an hour for lunch in Makawao. Such a fun day!

Fun and Easy! - We decided to do the morning tour vs the sunrise and I'm so glad we did. I wanted to see the crater in the mid-morning light to get more of the colors. The trip starts out at a small town shop right next to a market which is convenient. Our guide Kimo was AMAZING!! He fit us with helmets and was super quick about it - you can tell he's done this before! (The helmets could have been cleaner, mine had make up along the edges of the padding. :/) He was fun and went above and beyond my expectations. He drove us up to the top of the volcano with interesting commentary. Once at the top we were free to roam for about 10 minutes. I was expecting a tour at the top, but he did it along the way instead. Afterwards we stopped at another view point where he shared some fresh guava fruit and took a really cool photo of my husband and I "skydiving" in the clouds. Honestly he made the 1st half of the trip great! I was disappointed when he dropped us off at the starting point for the actual bike ride portion. At that point we were led by a man named Tim. He was an older gentleman that was skilled in biking and photography, but not so much in being personable. A lady in our group was nervous about going too fast, as was I, but instead of easing her fears he said, "well, we go a minimum of 20 mph! you can't ride unless you go that fast, we got to keep up to speed!" 20 mph going downhill sounds scary, but isn't bad, for the record, BUT it could have been handled differently. It was just very brass and I was irritated for the first many miles because of it. We had a van following us to keep other drivers away and that was great, but if you are at all skilled at riding a bike you could do the self guided version. I would recommend that so you can go at whatever pace you want and stop whenever you want. We only stopped once to take a picture down the road. I will say our pictures turned out great that Tim took of us. He said he does photography in his down time. We stopped in a small town for lunch then biked the rest of the way back to the shop. As far as skills needed to do this adventure... you don't need any. It's so much easier than I thought it would be. If you can ride a bike you can do this. I probably wouldn't let young kids do it just because it's fairly fast paced going downhill and around turns, but I would think 10-12 years and up should be fine. If you do the self guided tour instead there is a longer hill that you will have to ride up towards the end. But Kimo said you could always walk it up! ;)

Our favorite thing we did in Maui! - Great ride up the mountain, complete with explanations of all the sights and dad jokes. At the top the clouds were thick, but we got a picture of our group jumping in the air courtesy of our tour guide! The bike ride down the mountain was awesome!

Thrilling bike ride - This was a thrilling bike experience. My 12-year old daughter loved it. We all appreciated the tour to Haleakala and the care everyone took in maintaining safety on the way down (we did the guided tour). Thank you, Kimo for the excellent photos, the jokes and info about the island. A special thanks to Rosie for retrieving my daughter lost phone. What a great example of kindness and Aloha spirit.

Awesome experience. - This bike trip was one of the highlights of our stay in Maui. Bike Maui is a wonderful company that supplied everything we needed with high quality bikes and helmets. We had a great tour guide taking us up to and touring the volcano. He was very entertaining and informative. Touring the volcano was a nice surprise to us, as we thought we were just going for the bike ride. The bike ride down 23 miles was more intense than we realized, but it was exhilarating and something we will never forget. Just know if you decide to do the self guided tour, make sure you are confident at at bike riding, as you will be sharing the road with cars. But the guide told us what to expect and gave us great directions to get back to the shop. Glad we picked Bike Maui as the experience was nothing less than perfect!

Well organized; Breathtaking ride! - Had a great time on the tour that takes you up to the summit of Haleakala mid-morning and then allows you to bike down the volcano. Breathtaking! The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, they took safety very seriously, they provide all the gear you need, and everything was well organized. We also really appreciated the option to have them pick us up and drop us back at the hotel. We would definitely repeat this tour and recommend it to others! Mahalo.

Cool experience - I was glad that we did the morning trip rather than the sunrise trip. It was nice not to have to get up and get to Haiku so early, and we still had beautiful views of Haleakala. This is a two part tour. The first part is a bus tour up Haleakala where you get to walk around the crater and take photos. The second part is the bike trip down Haleakala. We considered some tours that just did the second part, but I was really glad we did the first part because it was cool to see the crater. We took some really great photos. Our guides for the both parts were very good. The bike ride down was very easy, because the van rode behind us and protected us from traffic (we pulled off to the side every now and then to let cars go by). Our guide went really slowly. My husband would have preferred the self-guided tour so he could go a little faster and stop whenever he wanted. This tour didn't provide any snacks or drinks so make sure you pack your own. We didn't have lunch until about 1:00pm when we were almost all the way down to Haiku. I wish I would have realized that we weren't going to eat until later, so I could have brought more snacks. Overall it was a great experience though.
