Fun Activity! - I had a great time learning to surf! The instructions to find the meeting spot were vague, so it's probably a good thing they say to arrive 30 minutes before your start time. The instructor called me and directed me to where the tour was starting. There was no yellow umbrella to look out for, which led to my confusion. However the lesson itself was easy to follow and after about 20 minutes we went into the water. Everyone in the session stood up at least once. The instructors were great at finding waves and telling us when to paddle and stand up. Definitely recommend.

Awesome Experience - The surf lesson was informative. It included foot positioning, paddling, and safety. We were able to stand up on the surfboard and rode several waves. We highly recommend Island Style Adventures and Christian the instructor is awesome; he went above and beyond our expectations. Mike and Sherry Clark

Great experience, highly recommended - Our family of three booked a semi-private lesson to learn how to surf – we all enjoyed ourselves and had a great time, esp. our kid who did better than we did. : ) All of the instructors seemed really cool, and ours was Krish who was amazing, you could tell how experienced he was – patient, made things fun, and even knew when we were tired. My wife is wary of swimming in the ocean and he made her feel comfortable. Definitely recommend. Some tips: 1) if you do a late morning lesson like we did, you likely won't find parking; we ended up paying for valet at the Marriott Ocean Club ($20) as the beach access parking lots were full (there are two very small ones – like 10 cars each – that flank Marriott, use Google Maps terrain view to see), 2) there's no sign but they're in front of the Alii on the beach itself – we ended up calling them as we couldn't find them at first and were told to look for a yellow umbrella, you can also look for surfboards and storage boxes where the crew hangs out, 3) there's a photographer who uses an SLR w/ ranged lens to take pics, so don't worry about capturing the experience – we loved the shots she got and felt the cost for the different options was fair given the context,

Fun experience! - My 18 year old daughter and her friend really enjoyed their surf lesson! The instructors were very good and friendly and while the swell was pretty non-existent, they still managed to get everyone to catch a wave! Impressive! 😅 lots of fun, thanks again.

Loved it! - Great experience! My 18 year old had the best time surfing with his patient, encouraging excellent instructor. This was the second time he’s tried surfing and he was able to pop right up and ride lots of waves on beautiful Ka’anapali Beach

Surfs Up! - We had a great time surfing on Ka'anapali Beach in Maui. Our instructor Christian was knowledgeable and encouraging. It was a little challenging to find the location to meet for the tour. As there were no signs or flags. After walking to the other end of the beach, we eventually found the correct location. Christian took the time to educate each of us on how to approach each wave. Always reminding us to paddle hard. We would recommend ISA Surf School to anyone who wants to try surfing without leaving Ka'anapali Beach.

Didn’t feel safe; bad experience - I got cancelled with less than 2 hours notice because “it was too windy.” The session was rescheduled to the day after although I looked it up and it was definitively the same level of wind if not more. When I actually went the next day, the waves were more aggressive than I expected and what I experienced in Waikiki. I told the coach that I’m a beginner and took one class before. He blamed me for positioning the surfing board wrongly when I got hit by the board right after we got into the water. I struggled to get above the water after I fell but the coach didn’t try to come closer and didn’t even ask if I was ok. He admitted that he was not able to see me after I got onto the waves. All of these mean either he’s not experienced or it was not a day for beginners but they still took beginners out. Not recommend. I had to cut the session short because I didn’t feel safe, not to mention enjoyable.
