When I heard about the Maui Nui Luau at the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa, I knew it was a must-visit for our family. Join me as I recount an evening filled with exotic Polynesian dances, delicious food, and a true sense of Aloha.
Aloha and Welcome!
As a family travel writer, I’m always on the lookout for experiences that offer both fun and cultural enrichment for families. So, when I heard about the Maui Nui Luau at the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa, I knew it was a must-visit for our family. We packed our bags and headed to the beautiful island of Maui, eager to immerse ourselves in an evening of exotic Polynesian dances and a buffet that promised to be a feast for the senses.
Upon arrival, we were greeted with real flower leis, setting the tone for an authentic Hawaiian experience. The atmosphere was nothing short of magical, with the sun setting over the ocean, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink. It was the perfect backdrop for an evening that promised to be unforgettable.
A Feast for the Senses
The buffet at the luau was a delightful surprise. Having attended several luaus in the past, I can honestly say that this was one of the best in terms of food quality and variety. The poke, kalua pork, and Hawaiian sweet potatoes were absolutely delicious, and the Dragon Fruit Cheesecake was a sweet ending to a perfect meal. While the alcoholic drinks were strong, they didn’t quite hit the mark in terms of taste, but that was a minor hiccup in an otherwise flawless evening.
The entertainment began as we dined, with Hawaiian music filling the air and a wonderful Hawaiian lady serving as the master of ceremonies. Her insights into Hawaiian culture added depth to the experience, making it not just entertaining but also educational. The dancers were mesmerizing, their movements telling stories of the islands’ rich history and traditions.
An Evening to Remember
As the evening progressed, the highlight of the show was undoubtedly the Samoan Fire-knife dance. Although not traditionally Hawaiian, it was a thrilling spectacle that left us all in awe. The performers’ skill and precision were truly impressive, and it was a fitting finale to an evening that celebrated the diverse cultures of Polynesia.
Before the night ended, we took some time to explore the craft tables set up around the venue. We picked up some beautiful handmade Christmas ornaments and admired the intricate Tiki wood carvings and jewelry. It was a wonderful way to support local artisans and take home a piece of Hawaii.
Overall, the Maui Nui Luau was a welcoming and enjoyable experience that left us with a true sense of Aloha. It’s a must-add to your bucket list, especially if you’re looking for a family-friendly activity that combines culture, entertainment, and delicious food. Just remember to book early for the best seats and bring your camera to capture the stunning sunset and the divers at Black Rock. Aloha!
