Tour changed, but was much better! - We booked this snorkeling trip for our first ever Hawaii trip. Honestly, I booked with Makena Coast charters because of the cool aerial photo of the Molokini crater, super shallow reason! Got to the dock, met Cap'n Joe and his first mate Lucia ( She was AMAZING ) okay Joe too. We boarded the boat "The Getaway" The trip was to go snorkeling and visit a second location to view the turtles. Sadly the weather the previous few days really murked up the water so we couldn't do that, but, that meant we had way more time snorkeling multiple locations ( instead of one ) within the crater. That was great, my daughter didn't want to leave. We ended up going to the beach in front of Mama's fish shack and seeing the turtles there ( per Joe's recommendation) we scored. This small locally owned 1 boat fleet made us feel welcome and catered to. If you are not a swimmer like me, dont worry, they will get you hooked up and safe in the water regardless of your swimming skill level. There were only 12 people on board unlike the forty at a time the bigger companies pack on board, those other big boats look like an elementary lunch recess in the water. We will use Makena on return trips, just hope we get to see Joe & Lucia again. P.S. Great sandwiches, specialty chips and drinks.

Loved it! - Awesome tour! Jess and Brandon were super great, friendly, and able to answer all of our questions. They did an amazing job making sure we got the best experience! The snorkeling was beautiful and we were able to see so much. Definitely recommend.

Awesome experience with Joe and Lucia! I can't recommend this excursion enough! - We absolutely loved it! We were lucky enough to have perfect weather for the trip and couldn't have asked for a better experience. A big portion of any excursion that helps shape the experience is the interaction with the staff/guides. Joe and Lucia excelled in every facet of making sure that each guest was able to have an enjoyable and safe experience. 100% recommend and hopefully we make it back to the island in the future for another tour.

Amazing experience with fantastic guides! - Captain Brandon and Jess were the very best of tour guides and provided us with an amazing experience. Brandon put a lot of thought into the trip and adjusted plans to accommodate upcoming weather. Because of his foresight, we were the only boat who went to Turtle Town early which gave us the advantage of snorkeling there in calm waters. It was fantastic. Our group saw at least six turtles, maybe even more! We also had the pleasure of a rare monk seal sighting, not once but TWICE during our trip. Finally, I don’t know how to even describe the underwater beauty of the Molokini crater. It’s one of those things you truly have to see to believe. The incredibly clear water made the reef and sea life look like a living piece of art. And, we were lucky enough to snorkel the edge of the crater which dropped off into the depth of the ocean which gave us an amazing vibrant blue backdrop for our beautiful swim. Brandon put us on the perfect spots and Jess, our marine biologist, gave us insight and information about everything we saw. Great experience!! Highly recommend this team.

Awesome experience!!! - This tour was awesome!! We went with Jess and Brendan who were super nice, knowledgeable, and seemed to really love their jobs. We got to see turtles, a ton of really cool fish, and even some seals! Highly recommend these guys, they do an awesome job!

Would do again! - Fantastic and knowledgeable crew. The visibility was amazing at the crater. Jess had a marine biology background and was able to answer all questions about the marine life. Joe was able to take us to the best spots. I would definitely do this again!

They were fun, knowledgeable, and helped us have an incredible experience, while keeping our safety a priority. I highly recommend them and this tour!
