For this excursion, you will be picked up from your hotel area by our airconditioned bus. The first stop is at the Spili village. You will have a chance to see a 100% traditional village with its well know lion-head fountains in the middle of the village. Walking along its cobbled streets you can explore the tourist shops which are full of traditional Cretan products. The next stop is at the amphitheatrically built village of AgiaGalini. Here will have 2 hrs to explore the village. The next stop is at Matala where you will have 3 hr of free time to enjoy the golden sandy beach. Matala is not only known for its beautiful beaches but also for its artificially carved caves that date all the way back to the Minoan period. These same caves were later occupied by a hippy commune in the late 60’s and 70’s. Many musicians have composed song about the beauty of Matala including Bob Dylan and Cat Stevens. The bus will then take you back to your hotel ending this amazing excursion.

Perfect - We really appreciated this trip with our guide Andreas and the driver Yanis. Everything was well organised and well explained, and Andreas has a good sense of humor.
We had other trips with another agency but nothing to compare to Markidis Travel.
Thanks a lot !!! We will Travel with you again if WE come back

Great Trip, Great guys - Had very interesting day trip with Kostas and Andreas, Both entertaining guys. Really enjoyed our day out, we were mainly interested in the caves at Matala, but we enjoyed the other 2 stops. Andreas was very informative, funny and intesting. When we were waiting for the pick up, we saw the bus drive by and shortly afterwards Kostas appeared to let us know we were waiting for others to arrive before he brought the bus back to us, which was kind of him.
Would definately use them again, everything very good from the girl booking us in to the drop off back at the hotel.
Bus very clean and tidy. Noticed Kostas cleaning while waiting for us all to return.

The best travel agency on Rethmymno - I made 3 trips with hem as guide but booked also a trip to Santori at Markidis Travel. The people that sell the trips know exactly what they are talking about. The small groups are great, and they are arlways on time at the hotel to pick you up. The people like Kostas, Barbara and Nektarios, who were guiding you through the tour explain allot, and tell you where to go to see some special places where other tourists don't come and really take care of you. Also the drivers as in Pedros and again Kostas have some challenges on the Cretan roads, but smoothly they drive on them. All in all is that if I go again to Crete I surely will book some other tours here. Great service. Thank you all for a very nice time on Crete.

Excellent day out - We've just returned from a trip to Matala Agia Galini and Spili. The whole thing was marvellous from start to finish
Cristos was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable friendly and helpful and Stavros was an excellent driver
The small group tour was great as it meant we were picked up and left off at our apartments
I have some mobility issues and some other companies won't pickup at our apartments. The restaurant in Matala was excellent, great food and value. A lovely day out and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. I hope to use this company again before the end of our holiday.

Fantastic trip - Just returned from a brilliant trip organised by Markidis Travel. Highly recommended. Christos looked after us very well and we will book a second trip. Maria from the travel base was very knowledgeable about each trip and explained everything to us. We felt looked after from the moment we were picked up until we were dropped off. Thanks also to Stavros the driver who was very safe.

Excellent - I actually did two excursions with Markidis, this one and the Kournas lake and both were memorable and significant. Christos and Stavros were an excellent duo and ensured everyone was comfortable and enjoyed the trip. They always recommended and pre booked eateries for those who travelled with them and they were really warm and welcoming. Christos spoke 4 languages and accommodated everyone when announcing, Stavros was an excellent and super safe driver and was also bilingual so when everyone would eat together they were very much socialising with the small and intimate group. My trip was solo and they made it truly memorable. Thank you ❤️

Great trip. - We joined the Markidis group and visited Matala. The guys are brilliant and they took good care of us. Our guide Christus explained us a lot of interesting things. The places we visited were magical. Would do it 100% again. Thanks Markidis travel!
