A Journey Through Time: Martvili Canyon

Our adventure began early in the morning as we set off from Batumi, heading towards the enchanting regions of Samegrelo and Imereti. The drive itself was a scenic delight, with the lush Colchis lowlands unfolding before us, a land steeped in myth and legend. As a family, we have always been drawn to places where history and nature intertwine, and Martvili Canyon was no exception.

Upon arrival, we embarked on a 700-meter stone-paved circular route that started at the Martvili Canyon visitor center. The path took us across the Dadiani historical trail, where two bridges and three viewing platforms offered breathtaking vistas of the canyon. The highlight for the kids was undoubtedly the 300-meter boat tour on the Abasha River. As we glided through the canyon, the towering limestone cliffs and the vibrant greenery created a magical atmosphere that captivated us all.

The historical 30-step stairway, constructed from large limestone boulders, was a testament to the region’s rich past. It was a perfect blend of adventure and education, allowing us to explore the natural beauty while delving into the stories of the ancient warriors who once roamed these lands.
