Avignon offers a captivating tale for history enthusiasts, charting its transformation in the 14th century when the Vatican shifted its base here, known as the Franco Vaticano. This monumental move shaped this modest settlement into the charming place we see today, as exemplified by Europe’s most extensive preserved Gothic palace, the Palace of the Popes. After exploring it, we’ll stroll along the park and ramparts, eventually reaching the famous Pont de Avignon.
Châteauneuf du Pape, with its robust red wines, is a place of renown! We’ll tour the town and indulge in a tasting at one of the many local domains.
As part of our tour, we’ll explore the ruins of Châteauneuf du Pape’s castle and take in the breathtaking view over the Rhône.
