Highlights
  • Day 1-Marsa Alam- Aswan

You will be collected from your hotel in Marsa Alam or Port Ghalib Hotels and transported to Aswan in a private vehicle, a 4-hour drive. You will tour the High dam, Phiala temple, and the Unfinished Obelisk and enjoy a scenic sail on the Nile on an Egyptian Felucca. Your overnight stay will be at the 4-star Basma hotel.

Phiala temple

Constructed to pay tribute to the goddess Isis, this temple marked the last classical Egyptian architectural design. The construction started around 690 BC and was one of the final locations where the goddess was venerated.

  • The High Dam

The Aswan High Dam, a rock-fill dam, is positioned at the northern border of Egypt and Sudan. The dam is sustained by the River Nile and the reservoir forms Lake Nasser. The project’s construction kicked off in 1960, was completed by 1968, and officially opened in 1971.

  • The Unfinished Obelisk

Aswan supplied ancient Egypt with high-quality granite used to produce statues and decorate temples, pyramids, and obelisks. The large unfinished obelisk in the Northern Quarries has given valuable insight into the production of these monuments, even though we still don’t fully understand the entire process. Three sides of the shaft, nearly 42m long, were completed except for the inscriptions. Weighing 1168 tonnes, the finished obelisk would have been the heaviest single piece of stone the Egyptians ever crafted.

Marsa Alam Tours Over night tour to Aswan and Abu Simbel from Marsa Alam - We stayed all inclusive in Marsa Alam and we wanted to experience the history of egypt. The tour was amazing. Our Tour Guide Hami was brilliant as soon as we started our journey from Marsa alam he was sharing all his knowledge of egypt with us. Travelled in a group 3 adults and 3 children youngest was 5. This is a tour you can do with young children. Arriving in Aswan was breath taking. We were taken to Aswan high dam and old dam. Hami was able to explain the history of lake nassar. Visiting Philae temple was definetly a highlight. Travelling by boat on the river nile to arrive at the temple of Isis.Once at the temple Hami was able to give us a excellent insight into the history. We were taken to a lovely nubian reataurant for lunch which was suitated looking out at the nile. The hotel that Marsa Alam tours chose for our overnight stay was comfortable lovely swimming pool in the hotel also looked out on the nile river. The hotel was right opposite Nubian musuem which is a good trip if you have time. We were provided with breakfast boxes for our early morning trip to Abu Simbel. The Star of this tour was our visit to Abu Simbel' once again Hami was able to give us great insight into the history of abu simbel and its restoration. Thank you Hami and Marsa Alam tours for making us feel so welcome and making our trip to Egypt extra special. We definetly will be back and choosing you as our tour operators to explore more of egypt.
