Atlas Mountain Trekking - Begin your adventure with a pick-up from your hotel in Marrakech. After a transfer to the quaint village of Imlil, your trek commences. Journeying through the Mizane Valley, you will first pass the village of Aremd and proceed to the shrine of Sidi Chamarouch. Continuing eastward, you will cross the flood plains, following mule tracks that lead you into the high rocky cliffs above the valley. After crossing the river, you will arrive at the pastoral shrine of Sidi Chamarouch, a popular spot for tourists and pilgrims. The trail then ascends steadily, winding its way up to the snowline and the Toubkal Refuge (3207m), where you will spend the night. The trek takes approximately 5 to 6 hours.
Toubkal Refuge 3200m - Toubkal Summit 4167m - Marrakech
Toubkal - At dawn, you will embark on your ascent to the summit of Jebel Toubkal, the tallest peak in Northern Africa. The route leads you up the south cirque, crossing the stream above the refuge. While the path is relatively straightforward, the scree and altitude present some challenges. However, the stunning views along the way make the effort worthwhile. Upon reaching the summit, you will be rewarded with breathtaking vistas of the surrounding landscape, offering unobstructed views from the Marrakesh Plain to the High Atlas in the north, and as far south as the Anti-Atlas and the Sahara. You will retrace your steps down the mountain and return to Imlil, followed by a transfer back to Marrakech. The journey involves about 8 to 9 hours of walking plus a 1.5-hour drive.
