The 3-day journey from Marrakech to the seldom-visited and relatively isolated Erg Chigaga Dunes could present a more intimate and expansive desert experience. The Erg Chigaga dunes, more than 60 kilometers away from the closest town, Mhamid, are situated southeast of Marrakech towards the border of Algeria. This part of the desert offers a more spacious and unspoiled terrain. The desert tour from Marrakech necessitates at least a three-day journey via Ait Ben Haddou and the Draa Valley, offering you a glimpse of expansive palm groves and rugged desert landscapes en route to the towering dunes. Accommodations on the journey include a first night stay in a traditional Moroccan house, or ‘riad’, in Ouarzazate and a second night stay at Erg Chigaga in a luxury tent.
