Highlights

Marrakech to Atlas Mountains (overnight in Berber village) and camel ride.

Marrakech - We will pick you up from your hotel or riad at 8:30. From there we will begin our journey to the High Atlas Mountains

Tahanaout - Our first stop will be a peaceful spot where you can dress up in traditional Berber clothes and enjoy a camel ride.

Asni - After this we will stop at a women’s argan oil cooperative where there will be a delicious bread & oil tasting with Moroccan tea.

Imlil - Next stop will be Imlil (altitude 1,740 m), the picturesque valley which will be the starting point of our hike. It is a tranquil location with a fast-flowing river, walnut trees and very traditional Berber villages dotted throughout. From here we will start our 2-hour walk with a leisurely stop at my charming home, where you can take in the stunning view from the rooftop terrace while you enjoy a delicious Berber lunch prepared lovingly by my mother.

Toubkal - After lunch we will walk the trail to the highest peak in North Africa (Toubkal) and see the simple everyday life of the local Berber people.

Aroumd - We will have dinner in my village and accommodation will be provided in a modern guesthouse with a stunning view.

Armed village- the summit of Tasghimot

Imlil - After breakfast you will enjoy a 3-hour walk with a local knowlegeble guide to Tasghimot summit, a spot from which three valleys can be seen.

Toubkal - After this you will have a relaxed picnic lunch prepared by a cook who will also have a mule to transport any luggage you choose to bring. Additional mules will be provided for anyone wishing to ride one.

After lunch we will meet in Imlil Center where our car will be waiting. You will be back in Marrakech around 6:00 pm.

Tuesday and Saturday tours also include a visit to a traditional Berber farmer’s market.

Day trip to remember forever! - Houssain expertly guided us on a stunning hike; he was a pleasure to talk and walk with, filling us with wonderful insight into culture, values and life in Morocco. It was a real pleasure walking and learning from him and I would really recommend him!

Amazing & Authentic Experience! - My boyfriend and I wanted to get out of the busy city of Marrakesh and booked a day visit to the mountains with el Houssain (who is the most sweet adorable young man!!!). I inquired about an overnight and he set up an additional private trek complete with lodging in a guesthouse overlooking the most epic mountains and rural Berber village! The trip included a delicious meal cooked by his mother. It was honestly the best food we ate the whole week we were in Morocco! His father, who knows those Mountains and trails like the back of his hands took us on a 5 hour journey the next day where we saw so many incredible vistas of some of the highest mountain villages in Morocco. We even got to touch some snow! The meal prepared by his brother (who brought the whole prep set up on the back of his mule and cooked it for us on the mountain) was incredible. I would highly recommend this wonderful family and their vast wisdom of their culture and history as guides for a portion of your morocco trip. The mountain people live in such a different world and culture than the cities, as the Berbers are a different people with lots to teach us modern folk. Take a step back in time, and make sure to bring good shoes! I was so impressed with their ability to hike rocky cliff sides as their daily commute. T We really look forward to going back again with more time!

An amazing mountain excursion - Ibri was an imformative ,relaxed and fun guy. We had a great time on the way to his family home in the mountains. His family made us feel very welcome and fed us with a wonderful lunch on arrival and after an eventful tour around the Berber village with his little brother we were taken aback by yet another delicious meal. Next day after great breakfast , Ibrí´s father took us up a mountain with a mule and some supplies. He was great fun and encouraged everybody to reach the top. We then came down a little way from the top to find lunch was ready ! Ibrí´s family & friends were the highlight of our stay in Morocco. You will definitely experience life in the Atlas in the most authentic way if you chose to go on this tour!
