Mohamed, our driver, picked us up at the riad with a big smile and a good dose of jokes to wake everyone up. The road from Marrakech to Ouzoud was a real pleasure for the eyes: endless olive groves, Berber villages clinging to the red hills and breathtaking green valleys. My journey - I left my suitcase next to the bed and left the door of my riad in Marrakech, the morning light barely touching the buildings around me. A fresh air of curiosity and anticipation filled me, despite the early boarding time. In a few minutes, I was warmly welcomed by our driver, Kamal, who was waiting with a smile. The car was comfortable and clean. The trip from Marrakech to Ouzoud was scenic, going through endless olive groves and small Berber villages nestled in the hills. Kamal was a safe and peaceful driver, and the two-and-a-half hours of travel passed flying as he played a nice Moroccan song, giving us a preview of the beauty that was coming. When we arrived, we found our guide, Fatima, who spoke perfect English and had a contagious enthusiasm. She was a guiding jewel, telling us about the local history and pointing out details we would have missed. The hour and a half walk to the waterfalls was an experience in itself, descending trails of red earth surrounded by lush landscapes. The sound of Berber monkeys echoed, and soon we saw them playing in the trees, surprisingly close.
