Best experience i have ever had - I’ll never forget the cool hush of the morning when I stepped out of my Riad in Marrakech, still half asleep but buzzing with anticipation. Hicham, our driver, greeted me with a wide smile and a warm “sabah el kheir” before I slid into the van. The city slowly gave way to dusty villages, endless groves of olive trees, and the soft rise of the Atlas foothills. The ride was nearly three hours, but with the golden light brushing over the landscape, it felt like drifting through a painting.
Our guide, Fatima, had a gentle way of telling stories about the Berber people and their traditions. She pointed out small details I might’ve missed—the way children waved from doorways, the earthy scent of freshly baked bread from roadside stalls. By the time we reached the trailhead, I felt like I already knew the land a little.
The hike down was slow and peaceful, about an hour and a half through shaded paths and red earth. Birds sang above us, and every now and then, a cheeky monkey darted across the branches, eyeing us curiously. One little one even reached out as if asking for food; I couldn’t stop laughing. Somewhere down the valley, I heard the faint, melodic call to prayer. It echoed against the cliffs, blending with the rush of water ahead, and it gave me goosebumps—it felt almost spiritual.
At the base, I had my first tajine of the day, bubbling hot with tender lamb and vegetables, served with crusty bread and the freshest mint tea I’ve ever tasted. The aroma of herbs and steam mixed with the crisp air. Then came the boat ride: we floated right beneath the roaring falls, mist soaking my face, the thunderous sound vibrating in my chest. I felt small, but in the best possible way—like nature reminding me of its power.
Some braver souls went for a swim, but I just sat on a rock watching the water sparkle in the sunlight, letting the moment sink in. The climb back up was slower, but the views—panoramic layers of green trees, red cliffs, and the shimmering cascade—made it worth every step.
We reached Marrakech in the evening, dusty and tired but filled with joy. This ouzoud waterfalls day trip from marrakech wasn’t just sightseeing—it was a whole journey for the senses, heart, and spirit. If you’re visiting Morocco, don’t miss the Marrakech to Ouzoud experience — it’s pure magic.

Soaked in Wonder: A Magical Day at Ouzoud Waterfalls - I’ll never forget the moment the spray of the waterfall hit my face — cool, wild, and alive. I was on a little wooden boat, bobbing under the roaring cascade of the Ouzoud Falls, laughing like a kid and clutching the edge with both hands as the mist soaked through my shirt.
The day had started quietly, with the soft knock on my Riad door just before sunrise. Lahcen, our gentle driver, greeted me with a warm smile, and I slid into the van beside a few sleepy fellow travelers. As we pulled away from Marrakech, the city slowly melted into olive groves and dusty villages. The air changed, crisp, earthy, filled with the faint scent of wild herbs.
Our guide Fatima was full of stories. She pointed out Berber homes tucked into the hills and explained the meaning behind the Amazigh symbols we spotted along the way. By the time we arrived, I felt like we were stepping into a place she deeply loved.
The hike down to the base of the falls took about an hour and a half. Fatima led the way with a rhythm that let us take it all in, sunlight flickering through olive branches, the distant thunder of the falls growing louder with every step, and... monkeys! Curious, playful, and surprisingly friendly, they hopped from tree to rock, eyeing our bags and offering a few hilarious photo ops.
We stopped at a tiny café overlooking the gorge for a traditional tajine and mint tea. The scent of simmering spices mixed with the sound of birds and far-off splashes. I could’ve stayed there for hours.
But the best part? That boat ride. The sheer power of the waterfall made my chest buzz. Standing so close, I felt small in the best way, like nature was reminding me just how vast and wild the world really is.
Later, I dipped my feet in the cool water while the call to prayer echoed hauntingly across the valley. It was spiritual. Like time paused for a moment.
The climb back was a bit sweaty, but the panoramic views — red earth, green trees, white mist — made it more than worth it. We rolled back into Marrakech just after sunset, dusty, tired, and happy.
If you’re visiting Morocco, don’t miss the Marrakech to Ouzoud experience. It’s pure magic.

Great day out - waterfall and monkeys. - Was a brilliant day out at Ouzoud waterfall. Was picked up from the front door of the hotel and dropped back off. Excellent service.
Guide on bus was very helpful, friendly and attentive and when we arrived at Ouzoud waterfall he arranged for a local guide to take us down to the base of the waterfall from the top and back up again. The local guide was really friendly and was nice to have that local knowledge, was extra £ but not a lot. You can walk to the waterfall without the local guide there was no pressure.
There are wild Macau monkeys at the top of the waterfall and some on the route down to the waterfall. They aren’t afraid to jump on top of people’s heads or shoulders but they didn't harm anyone.
After being at the base of the waterfall and on the boat, we walked back up to the top and had something to eat at one of the restaurants at the top.
Guide on bus was happy to return back a little earlier as we had all seen what we came for and done what we wanted to do. Thank you for being so accommodating.
