A Day of Mist, Monkeys & Magic – Ouzoud Will Stay With Me - I’m from Canada, and I’ve seen my fair share of waterfalls… but nothing like this. The moment that stuck with me most? Kneeling by the base of the falls, splashing freezing water on my sweaty face, with mist clinging to my eyelashes and a monkey literally trying to unzip my backpack. Total chaos. Pure joy. Our driver Hicham picked us up right outside our riad in Marrakech just after 8 AM. Still sleepy, but the playlist in the van—classic Gnawa music mixed with Bob Marley—woke me right up. We drove through foggy olive groves as the sun slowly burned through, and a French couple in the van passed around some homemade cookies (random and amazing). About halfway there, we stopped for a coffee, and that’s where I met Abdo, our guide. He greeted us with a huge smile and a joke about monkeys being the “true locals” of Ouzoud. He was funny, super knowledgeable, and had this calm, warm energy that made everyone instantly trust him. The hike down was gorgeous. Dry red dust kicked up behind us, and the cliffs on either side turned greener as we got closer to the falls. Then came the monkeys—bold, curious little thieves. One actually sat on my friend’s shoulder like it had been invited. No shame. And then—the falls. You hear them before you see them. Then suddenly, you’re staring at this wild curtain of water crashing down into a huge pool, surrounded by steep cliffs and rainbow mist. I took the little boat ride that brings you right under the falls, and I couldn’t stop grinning. Water slapping your cheeks, everything echoing—just wild. Lunch was a slow, delicious affair: lamb tajine, warm bread, and salad served riverside on these chunky clay plates. Abdo poured mint tea from what felt like a full meter above the glasses. He told us, “The higher you pour, the more love goes in.” I believed him. The hike back up gave us killer views—layers of red rock and green trees glowing in the afternoon sun. On the drive back from marrakech to ouzoud, everyone was quiet. The kind of happy-tired you get after a perfect day. If you’re even thinking about an ouzoud waterfalls day trip from Marrakech, just do it. Honestly, I didn’t want to leave. Unforgettable memories in one breathtaking day.

Very relaxing and restorative - "Harmony in every moment” The walk down was lined with monkeys and birdsong. At the bottom, I sat with mint tea and listened — not just to the water, but to myself. The boat ride was a graceful dance with nature. Thank you, Mustapha and Abdelatif.

"Serenity in Solitude: A Soulful Nature Escape" - “Solo but not alone in nature.” Even as a solo traveler, I felt connected to the earth, to the sound of water, to the quiet smiles along the path. The boat ride brought me close to the power of the falls, yet it was calming. Mint tea and lunch with a view were highlights. Thank you, Mustapha and Abderrahim.
